I just got a job triage hospice (lpn). I am now worried that I don't know much about terminal conditions and medications. Any advice would be helpful

the main thing in hospice is comfort. you do have to know your providers' preferences for medications. even if there is EBP, there can be variations. if pain is a problem... pain meds. if breathing is a problem opioids and benzos. if constipation is the problem the bowel care protocols. so many people with chronic urinary tract infections! who knew. a few years ago the doctors would just give 3-5 days antibiotics for suspected UTI. now the hospice I am at wants those folks to have a UA collected. not sure that is the same everywhere?
the best teacher in hospice is experience in hospice. there are also plenty of CEUs from HPNA that can be helpful so you can anticipate needs based on the illnesses.
