Wow...I can't believe it's only been been 3 1/2 months! It feels like it's been at least a year. But finally, a few hours ago today, I took my last final and finished my first semester of CRNA school!

I figured this would be a good time to answer questions anyone may have about transitioning into a CRNA program.

I'm in a front-loaded program, so I can't really help out with any questions regarding clinicals, but if you have questions about didactics and transitioning into school, I'll take a crack at it!

Absolutely! My friend has a 2 year old son. My other friend has a 12 year old daughter. Some of the Mormon students have many more.

hey dimov, mine are probably older. I can't tell if it will be more or less work for my husband then if they were little. different needs I guess.

I have, at time of start of crna school, 8,10,12 year olds. the youngest has a lot of medical conditions and the eldest has aspergers and anxiety. Always something at my house! Oh, and we homeschool! We are arriving 4 months ahead of time to find things for them to do, hikes, parks, etc as well as stores and other stuff. Hoping to have their lives fairly routine before mine goes haywire, lol!

Missnurse01, good for you for doing this with a family! Mine are 5, 3, and 3 months right now. They will be considerably older by the time I start CRNA school since I am just now about to start nursing school. I just found out that the CRNA program I'm interested in is switching over to having a DNP a requirement within a year. This will make the program 36 months instead of 28:(

Awesome thread, thank you so much for this amazing info: I will be starting at Wolford this October and was wondering where i should live? I have a wife and and my son will be 8 months old. I am guessing it is nice to live in the same complex as other students for study purposes and such. I was hoping to live near a park or something we could walk to at night to get out and clear the mind! any ideas? We are a little nervous to leave colorado, but know it is for a better life and a rewarding profession :)

Also, what would be helpful for me to study a bit before i start classes on October 14th? I believe i saw a thread that you said to brush up on some advanced patho and receptor sites?

They still don't have the sim lab running yet?? What is the first semester classes schedule like? 5-6 classes and two days a week?

see yours will prob be the age of mine when u r in! lol. they are all going dnp, sadly. but you are only adding 8 months if you look at it that way. just save save save when you start working as an RN, you will need it!

I did my CCRN and buckled down on the EKG section. I'm really quite good with them now. Never took any formal classes on them, just studied a lot, asked lots of questions at work, and got a 12 lead on everybody no matter if our doc wanted one or not lol.

My anesthesia curriculum contains an advanced EKG course, so I don't think they're expecting us to come in acting like a cardiologist. You'll obviously be taught all that you need to know in the program.
