Just Failed a Drug Test to get into Nursing School Can I take another one

Published

At My College LPN Program,

we are required to do background checks and drug screens

10 panel

I just had one done and Came back positive for marijuana

My question is because we are also required to submit paperwork signed and stamped from the doctor and I had the drug test but did not get my paperwork signed and stamped.

Can I go to another facility say next week when I Know I'll be clean and get it redone with my physical and have it signed and stamped there?

Will I still be able to go into the school?

P.S I have already stopped for 22 days, I guess my system needs a lil longer and No I will not be smoking in school or work.

Thanks For the Replies

Lol trick the system,

Not even gonna waste my time with that comment

In any case, I had to get my certified background check done on the same website as well.

I'm not so concerened with it showing on my background

More or less I know if I take another one I would pass

I'm just wondering if that would be good enough.

If I had to mention it to the BON that's fine but I spent 2 years taking all the pre-reqs And finishing up the 2nd part of AnP now

Dont' wanna see all my hardwork go to waste.

Anyone with personal experiences please chime in,

I have a physical on Friday that can also do My drug-Test, hoping it'll all be ok if I pass it there and have them do my paperwork.

I'm sure they would see it if They looked at the first hospital I went to, hoping some kind of privacy laws could prevent that.

Whose to say that I didn't go there as a trial-run before I went to another hospital to get all my Physical and Drug-Test done all together.

If you aren't using drugs why would you need a trial run? Nurses understand this......If you didn't want your hard work go to waste...you probably should have stopped smoking once you decided to become a nurse.

No one here can answer what your school will or won't do. There are NO second drug rest policies that are a reference point. You just might have thrown a serious wrench in your plans. I am another nurse in the camp to legalize marijuana....It isn't do much the pot....it's that it is illegal.

I do know that there are many in our criminal history forum and Recovery forum of nurses with histories of drugs in their past.....like 10 years past....that are denied licensure or place in monitoring programs just because at sometime in their life they used drugs.

I'm not so concerned with it showing on my background
You should be.....Nursing really frowns upon drug usage even the prescription kind. I wish you luck.
