Just Curious !!!!!!!!!!!!1

I am a new grad/nurse living in TX. I just read a thread about group one and how supervisors are blacklisting nurses and I am really scared to my bone marrow. I just graduated in may 2007 and took my boards in july but was unsuccessful; the hospital I was working at a time offered me a tech position which I declined b/cos I felt like I needed to focus and pass my board exams. My supervisor told me she does not have any choice than to terminate me since I am not eligible to be placed on leave. So my question is, Is it a possibility that she might have reported me to group one? Am I not supposed to inform my employer and stop practicing as a GN after failing the boards?. Don't I have a choice of working as a tech or just not working? The BNE made it clear that your graduate nurse permit expires as soon as you fail your board exam.Again I am just curious. It is my understanding that you can be reported to GroupOne for gross dereliction of duties, which, from the sounds of it, you have not committed. There is no fault on your part for making your studying a priority - it sounds more like shortsightedness on the part of the hospital.

Yes, you have a responsibility to notify your employer immediately upon the failure of your boards, and they have to take steps to ensure that they are protected - like offfering you a tech position. Less prestige, less pay, less responsibility but you're still employed by the organization. I don't understand why they had to terminate you, though. Could they not have used you part time?? It seems incredibly short sighted (go figure on that one) of an organization to 1. hire you as a prostpective RN then 2. let you go completely after failing the board exam. Please tell me hospital administrators are smarter than this Then again....

All the best to you...you'll pass next time. But if it were me, I'd tell my "old" employer to bite it should another offer from them arise.

The information that Group One receives can be ANYTHING that has to do with your employment. State Laws changed years ago, removing the limits on what employers can say about you. In all actuality, any employer can now say Anything about you that they want. Most don't want the hassle of litigation and stick to dates of hire, eligible for rehire, salary, but others feel safe in their little Group status and don't care. They will then put in things that are subjective, including an evaluation form which is subjective, and other irrelevant data. It up to the hospital that is looking to hire you whether or not they want to read what is in a person's Group One file and then decide what to do from there. When your future employer does a background check, they will find that you were terminated from this job. Whether or not your old employer tells them why, and if you are eligible for rehire, is up to them. I suggest you contact HR and find out if you are eligible for rehire - they will probably have the stipulation that you must pass your boards first - but that will give you a better idea of how to proceed and what to tell future employers. Failing boards on the first time is nothing like nurses that go against the grain and get blacklisted.
