Just checking to see how LPN/LVN classes are going.

Hi all, I was just wondering how is school going for everyone that have started LPN school this fall. I just started last week and I thought we were going to take it easy the first week. Needless to say we have already had some quiz and have a test tomorrow. I was just checking on everyone to see how things are going. Hang in there we can do it.

Mine is going ok. Our instructor did not take it easy on us. We started August 11, and have had 3 tests, 1 pretest in math, a 5page research paper, another assigned. another test is in 2 days. Needless to say, house is a wreck and hubby is wondering where supper is...lol.

We started August 8th. and have tests on Monday, Wednesday, and Friday. So far, we've had a lot of work. We have assignments to turn in everyday, and I'm averaging 4 hours of homework a night.

Cheers,

Jeff

My program starts on the 19th. I am just flippin' at the thought of all the work coming my way. I have been trying to organize everything... stocking up on the Hamburger Helper for the DH to prepare.

Any suggestions besides kiss everyone goodbye now? My stomach is in knots.

Glad to hear you are still okay so far.

Hello,

I just got my LPN license last week. I thought I would let you all know thatmy course was just as intense as you are describing. But, after the first four months it slowed down to a very manageable pace. Keep your heads up and don't fall behind. Their is a light at the end of the tunnel, after all your hard work you will be a nurse.

Melanie, LPN (finally!)

Today was my first day for LPN school. I was excited, scared, a little overwhelmed, and so glad it was finally here after more than a year of waiting. I have learned so much in my first day and can't wait to learn more. Good luck everyone and thanks for all the advice so far!!! I am sure I will need more.

I knew I was in trouble when we spent the entire first day of class going over school policy. There was so much information that I don't really remember anything. Have had to ask teachers when issues come up, and they would get annoyed and ask "weren't you paying attention the first day of class?" Well, yeah but after the first five hours I just gave up. All I know is I'm not allowed to be late, absent, cheat, have cell phones or wear spaghetti straps. :uhoh21:

Of course, now that I've been through the first 6 months they have turned around and changed the whole thing so we had to go through another mind bending tour of the politics and policies of our school. THis time I just signed the sheet and handed it in. :bowingpur

I started this on Wednesday September 7...our first test in A&P is this Tuesday. Its a lot of information but I feel good about it. Well see how I feel after the first test. My instructors seem very nice and willing to help, unless you are going to screw around. Then I get the impression they are not going to be very nice and will not help you out. Which seems fair enough to me.

Best of luck everyone.

I started Aug 15 and it's a love/hate relationship! Tests every other day in Med Term. Nursing Care Management frustrates me: I'm a logical thinker, so bending my mind around what's the "best" answer is a work in progress. The newest class added to Pre Reqs is Spanish for Healthcare workers. Med Term is a language itself, so two new languages for us to learn!

We've had 2 dropouts and 2 that are having trouble making it to class consistently. I'm the oldest and feeling the heat from these 20 -30 year olds! I WILL accomplish this, though!

Best wishes to all that have started this journey!

My first day is tomorrow, the 12th! Very excited and nervous. I have orientation for 3 hours and then start with my first classes. It's interesting to read how it is going for all of you! I can't wait to be able to post about it tomorrow (unless I am up to my ears in homework..hee hee)

nananurse2-I am like you...I think logically and I am worried about having to work through that & basically learn a whole new way of thinking! I wish us luck! I am sure we will be fine.

Good luck everyone and thanks for taking the time to share!

All I have to say about my first week is: it is over! We have so much work to do it is a little nerve wrecking!

My A&P teacher can not talk louder than a whisper and says all of the med terms differently each time she says them. I am not sure what is up with that. I thought maybe it is to get us use to different annouciations but she says hoo-men every now and then  "The hoo-men skeleton has 206..." When you ask a question she says to go home and read your book!

Anyhow! I can't wait to do the labs! We have soooo much homework I have to quit my job and get a roommate!! :bluecry1: I don't want to share my house with anyone but my husband. :blushkiss Oh well if it gives me time to do my homework and pay the bills.

Well I should get back to my 10 pound nursing arts text.
