Just accepted into Barry University's traditional BSN program!

Nursing Students School Programs

Published

Hello All!

Let me first just say, this is my first post, and if someone posted something like this previously, please forgive me :chicken:. I recently just completed my my A.A.S. degree in medical assisting. I was taking all my pre-requisites while studying to be a M.A. at the same time. I was a non-traditional student, and earned my GED through college credits through my institution (Monroe College Bronx,NY). I worked extremely hard to maintain a great GPA, and can proudly say I will be graduating with Summa Cum Laude! :roflmao:

When my journey at Monroe College was coming to an end, I decided I wanted to fulfill my original dreams, and go away to college for nursing, like I've been aspiring to do ever since my Dad was being treated then passed away from leukemia. Colombia University's nurses were amazing there, and helped me find my true passion in life! Healthcare!

So I guess this was kind of a introductory post as well. LOL.

However, I wanted to know if any of you have attended Barry's BSN program?

Anyone from out of state preferably? Only because I would be re-locating,

and dorming down there. However, anyone who has attended your response is still very much appreciated. As for financial aid, I am deemed independent by the govt. (I'm 24) due to absenteeism of my mother. I would like to know if they assist with finances for expenses while looking for a job?

Last question I promise! LOL.

Did you have to take the TEAS or entrance exam? I already have 69 credits.

Thanks!

I heard about that test on previous post. I am hoping to get an acceptance letter soon so I can start that process. Good Luck on the Test

Hey, I am currently a sophomore at Barry and I'm freaking out because I want to graduate in time and everyone keeps telling me it is very hard to get accepted into the Nursing Program. I currently have a 3.23 GPA but I am going to strive higher. What is the GPA needed to get accepted? Have you gotten accepted?? If so, please give me a few pointers because I need everything it takes for me to be accepted.

My current gpa is a 3.5 but I am still taking four classes so I have not gotten a response yet. I think you need to just focus on getting A's and B's in your science pre-reqs especially. I have heard that Barry is slightly easier to get into then the other nursing schools in the area. At the same time everyone is trying to get into nursing school so everywhere has made it harder for students.

Ohh okay. I'll be done with the prereqs by next fall so I hope to get good grades from here on out. Only sciences I'm missing are microbiology which I will take next fall, chemistry, and physiology. I'm taking chemistry in the summer and I have no knowledge in chemistry so I am going to take a preparatory chem class in the spring... Is chemistry really that difficult?? Are you completing your prereqs this fall?

Chemistry is a little difficult especially balancing equations but if you study who should do fine. For me Microbiology was the hardest.

Can anyone please give me any insight on the EAT test. How was the vocab? Was it in a sentence structure or definition? How was the reading comprehension? Also, for the essay was it just a topic or was it nursing related? Thank You to anyone who responds!
