So I have yet to even start pre reqs, but my goal is set to become a RN like most obviously.
Now with that I do have two kids and a wife, but fortunetly my wife is still in the military and retires in 6 years. I got out of the military a couple years ago (Became a EMT) now am pursuing the Nursing career field.
My question is from any RN/ Student etc that juggled family life with school how did you do it? Did you study late into the night when they kids where asleep? How did you separate school from quality time with your children? etc etc.

I have many in my cohort that have kids either young, grown, or on the way while being full time students and working as well. You just do it or you don't. As i'm sure you learned in the army there are many things put in your way to break you or steer you off the path you've set your sights on, sometimes you just need to make the best out of an untimely situation.

I'm accomplishing my prereqs by studying a little at school and anytime my husband could watch the kids (usually the weekends). But ultimately I end up studying late into he night, a lot. There is just not enough time in the day for my 4 and one year old and studying. BBboy is right you just do it. One way or another it'll get done! Good luck!
Thanks,
Yeah Im aware of the micro managing and all that stressful experience and juggling multiple things in the military. I just wanted to see or get any suggestions / advice or ideas of ways other people did it or are doing it.
Either way Ill make it work no doubt

Hi there. I too got out of the Army and went to school to become a nurse. I have a 3 yr old, a 1 yr old, and one on the way. I was able to finish most of my pre-reqs in a year and some change for the bsn program. I'm applying this summer. It hasn't been easy, but it's doable. Routine with school and the family is everything! Have a really good planner and plan everything in advance. I wouldn't have been able to pull off the gpa I have without my planner and a good schedule. I begin studying at night at 8pm after my kids are in bed and sometimes I wake up at 5-5:30 and get an hour more of studying in before I have to leave for school. It's intimidating when you start back at school, but with a routine it gets easier. I wish you the best of luck.
