Joliet Junior College Nursing Applicants

Nursing Students School Programs

Published

I just applied for the 2014 Fall JJC nursing program. I am freaking out over my scores and gpa. I just want to know what other people have gotten and if my scores are good enough to get in. TEAS Comp. 79% TEAS Reading 86% Gpa:3.3 and I have completed all my pre reqs.

I'm not sure about per quarter but I heard the price increased this year to about $10,000 for the two years. First semester will be about $800 because of all your books, materials.

Hello and congratulations to everyone that made it in! Quick question...I did sign up for the 150 session on 5/7, but does anyone know how the process works for registration? I have financial aid loans and normally my books are covered through that. I tried calling the school for info but no one ever returns a call from the FA office :banghead:. Has anyone heard how this is going to work? Any info is greatly appreciated. Have good day.

I asked for financial aid and can only get loans, they told me to wait until after registration.

Thank you! I feel better knowing that :). I was getting nervous about how that was going to be handled lol

No problem! Are you days or nights?

I am days and cannot wait to get started already!

Me too! Excited for Wednesday :)

Congrats to those that were accepted into the program!

I'm going to apply this August and I'm curious-- what is your GPA and what score did you receive on the TEAS test?

Hi Thimble,

I was accepted into the fall program and the best advice I can offer is make sure you have those 6 core classes done and just really focus on the reading portion of the TEAS. It is a little on the expensive side but I highly recommend you buy the ATI study guide book. It is almost like a crap shoot to get in. This year only a little over 200 people applied and there were 96 spots available. My GPA for the 6 courses was a 3.1 my composite score was on the lower side and my reading was a 76% (the stupid science portion kicked my butt lol) It really depends on how well the people applying with you did. I had seen two different advisers and both gave me stats from the opposite end of the spectrum. One was by the book and told me DO NOT get less than a 3.6 or you will not get in and the more realistic one told me make sure your GPA is 2.8 or above, have all 6 classes complete and do really good on the TEAS and you will be accepted in. Just don't give up the waiting process is torture but do the best you can and even if you think crap my scores are not good enough to apply...apply anyways you just might get lucky!! Anyways good luck to you!! :) Oh and I also highly recommend taking the Nursing 100 course next semester! It really teaches you the math you will need to know for the nursing career and they give amazing studying advice and what to expect when you do get into the program.

What did you think about registration day???

I think many of us posted our scores and GPA in the first few comments. My GPA was 3.83, 83 composite score on the teas, and 90 in reading. I also completed all of the pre req courses. I would agree with stayinghopeful's comment-have all the pre reqs completed. I applied last year with three left and was not accepted. I also took nursing 100 this semester and it was immensely helpful to prepare you for the math and give insight as to what the program will be like.

Toya I liked the registation day...I thought it was great to see the labs and have a little taste of what we will be doing. I am super excited to start!

I was excited and nervous on registration day. Loved the mannequin parts, especially the one that gives birth!
