Just wondering if anyone knows what the average teas score is for people who were accepted in the last few semesters for the nursing program. I know that they use a certain % for each criteria and base that towards your acceptance or denial into the program, but I have no idea if what a "good" score is. My overall teas score was a 79.3%, reading was 92.9%, I've got 5/6 classes completed and out of those I have a 3.8 GPA. I still have no idea if this is even close to being good enough to get in! Any thoughts and comments appreciated! Thanks!!!
When I did my CNA course at JJC it didn't matter where we did a CPR class, so long as it was the one for healthcare providers. I would imagine it's the same for the nursing program. I was told by another student that the background check has to be done before classes start in August, but I was going to call to doublecheck. Where are you getting titers done? I don't have a regular doctor, and I'm pretty sure my insurance won't cover it so I'm trying to figure out how much it's going to cost.
That makes sense then! Thanks!! I do have a regular dr., but he doesn't do injections or labs at his office, so I'm using a dr. out of channahon that has all of that on site. If you are going to have to pay out of pocket, I would suggest trying either the Will County or Grundy County Health Department. I know when I was in high school, for my CNA class, we got the hep B there. I imagine they could do everything for you, but I have no idea how much it costs. If you can I would suggest going to the Grundy County HD, because I have a friend who takes her daughter to Joliet and she seems to have to spend 1/2 a day there. Hope that helps!
It's hard to tell you exactly what will be on your test but things I remember were basic algebra, basic geometry, know your grammar and punctuation, and basic chemistry (review covalent bonds, periodic table, etc.). If you know your basics in reading, math, and grammar you'll be fine on these areas. Science is a little harder to study for because it covers such a wide range of topics. I studied HARD for the TEAS, mostly math, and received an overall 87. I scored highest in Math and Reading, lowest in Science. I had all A's and one B on my prereq's. Good luck :) You CAN do it!!!!
I just got in and start my nursing classes in the fall. It's really not going to matter who you had for your science classes. What will matter most is what you have retained from ALL your science classes going back to early high school through now. There are questions about earth science, basic biology, genetics, a&p, chemistry, etc. Too much info to cover for one test. I would just go over the basics of each topic and not worry too much more about it. You pretty much either know it or not. I do remember having difficulty remembering things about chemistry bonds and losing and gaining electrons (you might want to study up on that). Other than that, just reviewing would benefit you the most.
The nursing program looks mostly at your reading score and your overall score. If you do really good in reading (in the 90's) and do fairly well on everything else (say 70's-80's), you're score should fall somewhere in the 80's. This is considered a good score and as long as you have finished most of your prereq's and have done pretty well in those classes, you should be good to go :) Good luck. Let me know if you have any more questions! I know how stressful it is just TRYING to get into the program!
Congratulations!!!I feel so much better just knowing! Good luck to everyone else!!

This is my first post so hopefully everything goes well. I already have a B.S. and have all the non-nursing classes completed for JJC (some at JJC and some at my 4 year). Can I take the nursing classes and then graduate with my RN or will I have to fill the credits with other classes? Willl taking just the nursing classes still take 2 years or will I be able to do it faster? Time isn't really an issue. Any wisdom from any JJC alum or students would be wonderful. Thanks in advance.

I had a few quick questions for anyone that knows the answers!! Just wondering if we need the background check completed before orientation on the 27th and is it mandatory if we are not already CPR certified to complete it at JJC? I can do the same Health Care Provider CPR at Morris for $25 cheaper. It didn't sound like the background check had to be done but I wanted to double check and it did sound like you could complete the CPR course anywhere as long as it was the Health Care Provider class, again just double checking! Thank you everyone for your help, it's very much appreciated!!
