Hello all!
I'm an FNP and applied to the JHU SON PMHNP Post-Master's PMHNP cert program for Fall 2023. After an intense 10 minute search, I couldn't find any threads started for JHU SON PMHNP Cert Fall 2023 applicants to gather, encourage, console and of course share info. Let's chat!
StarNP2025 said:I cannot confidently recommend this program. The clinical placement process is extremely disorganized, making it difficult for students to navigate and secure appropriate placements. And for some students who have found placements, the clinical placement team fails with doing the paperwork on their end on time leaving students in limbo. Horrible. All lectures are pre-recorded, resulting in minimal interaction with professors, which makes the learning experience feel impersonal. Additionally, there have been frequent delays in grading, leaving students without timely feedback—a concern that many of my peers have voiced. It often feels like the program is operating on autopilot. Like someone is just enrolling students and collecting money.
While there are aspects I have chosen not to elaborate on, the overall experience has been disappointing. As a previous graduate of a Johns Hopkins program, I had high expectations, but this program falls short. It unfortunately feels more like a diploma mill than the high-quality education one would expect from Hopkins.
If you are considering spending $34,000 out of pocket or going into debt for this program, you should know. Many students have expressed in group discussions, share these same frustrations. Hopkins needs to address these concerns and improve the program to align with the reputation it has. Otherwise, it is just not worth the money. You can struggle and have a poor experience for less money. Not everyone has had issues but this is the reality of many students. It is anxiety provoking you might need therapy after this program LOL. Good luck with the application process and with whatever school you decide to pick in the future.

Dear CCNE Review Committee,
I am a former student of the Johns Hopkins University School of Nursing. I am submitting this complaint because I was required to find my own clinical placement during my enrollment.
When I asked for support, I was told it was my responsibility to locate a site and preceptor. This process caused significant delays and stress, and in some cases jeopardized my ability to meet required hours on time. I believe this practice does not meet CCNE standards for providing appropriate clinical learning opportunities and adequate institutional support.
Attached are examples of emails and documents showing that I was nstructed to secure placements on my own.
Thank you for your attention to this matter.
Sincerely,

I'm honestly shocked by the dysfunction within the clinical placement team. I've been hearing countless concerns from other students, and the situation is worse than I imagined. Even those who have secured clinical preceptors are being sabotaged because the school refuses to submit the necessary contracts on time.
Students are being forced to take incompletes—and that's only if they manage to complete at least half of their required hours. Imagine paying $10,000 for a semester, only to be told you can't progress due to the school's own failures. Meanwhile, professors and higher-ups are ignoring emails, misleading students, and failing to provide the placements they promised.
One student even uprooted their life and moved to Maryland for a clinical rotation they were assured they'd receive—only to be met with silence. This is beyond negligence.
It's insane. It's shady. And honestly, I smell a lawsuit. It's awful.
I am blowing the whistle. No student should pay $34k or more to deal with this.
