Yay! Should we do a FB group or somethin’?

Yes!! That would be awesome

I’m in for facebook! I sent a request ?

I created a group “JTCC Nursing Spring 2021”

I see a number of you got in. Congratulations! A FB group is really important and you'll use it a lot. I will caution you on a few things. Complaints are fine, but be cautious about how you do it. Nursing school is not easy and you'll want to pull your hair out. You'll be like WOW!! kind of often. Vent, but be cautious.

Support teams are important. Whoever is your support team let them know you'll need them seriously for the next two years.

And get ready to give up a number of things. Mine was a very clean house. We're just starting to get back to normal on that and it's not easy. You'll give up something huge for this, but eventually you will get it back.

@mumto2monsters thanks for the tips! We have orientation coming up soon. I was wondering if you had any suggestions on which iPad we should get for clinicals.

@Gingerails

I can't help you with the iPad as I'm an Android user. You can go on FB and join a nursing group and see if they have any suggestions.

Honestly I used my laptop 99% of the time because you'll be typing and a tablet can be really annoying if you're a fast typer like me. And a lot of the times you won't need both. But it's whatever you're comfortable with.

You can also wait and see what they suggest, though it's really still up to you.

I would pay attention and take notes, ask questions, even dumb questions during orientation because it's going to be a lot of information thrown at you and you're not going to understand half of it. (I'll be honest I don't understand half of it and I'm done. LOL.)

If you get e-mails with what you should read before class starts I highly recommend at least skimming through it because it's a lot of reading in 1st semester and if you get behind....

You also gotta know how you learn. I don't learn by the lectures. I learn by reading and doing and a short overview lecture on Youtube and you'll be using Youtube a lot.

@mumto2monsters oh OK! I would rather use my laptop for typing as well. I read that a laptop is not preferred. Maybe because it’s bigger to carry around? I’m not sure. I’m definitely going to take notes during orientation. All of these tips are great!

@Gingerails

That's probably what the issue is. I still carried mine because mine acts as a laptop and a tablet.

@mumto2monsters mine flips to a tablet as well so maybe I won’t need to buy a tablet ??Though it is a lot bigger than a regular tablet. Guess we’ll see!
