John Tyler Community College Nursing Fall 2015

Published

I recently applied to John Tyler's program for fall 2015 admission. Does anyone know what the admission notification deadline is or about how long it usually takes to hear about admission? Thanks!

Hello all! Just wondering anyone would have idea on connecting to classmates close to them. I wouldn't mind knowing who lives close by as possible study/carpool partners. That said, I may be moving just a little further south this summer. I currently live in 23335, but hopefully will be moving to 23237 this summer.

I live in 23114, close to JTCC. I, along with 2 others, have already agreed to form a study group. All are welcome. :)

I would love to join. I'm in the traditional track, so I may be able to provide insight into class discussion that online students may not have the benefit of. Let me know how best to connect with you.

I am in hybrid track, however, the other ladies are in traditional, like you. First semester, we all have one hybrid class that is the same anyway. You can email me via @email.vccs.edu...kml2681 is my ID. Looking forward to meeting you. :)

Has anyone gotten their iPad yet? what type and how many gigs should we get?

I got my iPad. It is an iPad Air2 and has 128Gigs...don't know if we need that much, but it seemed worth it in the long run. I have an iPad 2 with 32Gigs for sale, if you know of someone who needs one. Only $125. Nothing is wrong with it and it has the Black Tie warranty at Best Buy until September.

When you applied to JTCC was it based on your TEAS V test score? Do you know around what scores people had that were accepted in the time frame you were?

Hi everyone,

I recently got accepted into the John Tyler Program and the SRMC program as well. I'm having a hard time deciding, but am leaning towards John Tyler's program. I have a friend who is also in the Fall semester, and says that 20% of her class has already dropped out. I'm wondering if this is from people not being able to handle the program, or if it is really that difficult. I spend a lot of time studying, and think I would be a good fit for the program, but just need some reassurance I suppose. If anyone has anything that I could keep in mind, or that is special about John Tyler's program, Id really love to hear your feedback!

Thanks!

I am currently in my first semester at JTCC. It is true that we have had just over 20% leave the class already. However, I don't think this had much to do with voluntary drop-outs. There is a grade requirement that you must achieve in the first 8 weeks in order to be able to move forward to the 2nd 8 weeks of the semester (when clinicals start). Many people did not meet that grade requirement, or they failed their checkoffs in lab (which is an automatic fail for the course). It is difficult, but if you are committed you can do it. It is a hard adjustment to learn how to study differently for nursing courses and I am still trying to figure it all out! John Tyler's program has a great reputation; if you think you can make the commitment, I think John Tyler is the way to go.
