Is anyone else having a hard time deciding on where to work after graduation? Not just in terms of units, but in terms of hospitals. I cannot decide between several hospitals in the state, some several hours away. -Andrea

Well, I'm not there yet, but I foresee it being a difficult decision. I'll have the choice between two hospitals that are within 10 miles (one which is 4 minutes from our house), and 2-3 more hospitals which are within 80 minutes.

Funny you should bring this up ...
I just got in overly-analytical mode earlier today & made myself a "matrix" listing 8 hospitals within acceptable driving distance and the factors which are important to me: availability of desirable positions; whether or not they have some kind of orientation or support program for new grads; whether or not I could expect 8-12 weeks of orientation on the specific unit where I would work; benefits; tuition reimbursement/benefits (since I plan to start on my BSN quickly; an acceptable pay rate; parking; and "other". Other would include the general atmosphere, reputation of the hospital, etc.
I'll fill this in as I talk to nurse recruiters, NMs, and HR people.

No, that's a great idea. My problem is, these hospital are all over state. They're either near my parents, or out here, which is 5 hours away, but close to beach and friends. What if I meet "the one" between now and graduation? Will he be willing to move? Would I stay where he goes? AHHH!
