Jobs in Florida - NEW RN

Published

is it just me or is finding a job as a new rn impossible?? maybe it's just miami, fl but there are absolutely no opportunities for us. how can we gain experience if no one is willing to offer it? anyone can facebook or type! what's with all the online applications?? don't you want to know if i am in good working condition? wouldn't you like to see what kind of person you are hiring on paper in real life? are they cheerful? are they ambitious enough to show up and actually job hunt? a new rn has flexibility and ambition at least myself i can be molded to any facilities policies and procedures and i want to learn everything the right way! an rn from another facility is not on that level they are coming in "knowing" what to do but they do it sloppy and unmotivated they aren't taking individual time for all of their patients!! noone cares about those aspects of the job though, right? do my 2 years of clinical rotations at one of the busiest hospitals in miami, fl mean nothing to a corporation? any advice from my fellow rns? i am currently working on getting all my necessary certifications to try and increase my chances on getting hired (pals, acls, ekg). i don't know what else to do... :crying2:[color=deepskyblue]

Try southwest florida, Lee Memorial, hires new grads, has needs for nurses, check out the web site and rent is cheap on the west coast.

thats sounds good. a lot of hospitals here in miami arent considering ltc or alf "acute care" so you still dont qualify as "experienced". so ridiculous i went to an open house today where they mentioned internship programs things may look up itll still be MONTHS before they launch tho :( i need to move out of my parents house!

what open house did you attend?

I agree, try Southwest Florida. I was hired, in naples, on a med/surg/tele unit and I had no acute care experience. Also HHA in the area are pretty desperate for nurses.

Specializes in Labor and Delivery.

Mount Sinai in South Florida has an open house every Tuesday for RN's. Be prepared for a possible onsite Interview. Do your research on the hospital & sound enthusiastic about starting....Sell yourself. Sometimes all the experience or certificates you aquire can't make up for a bad first impression. I've been applying for a RN position since April 2011...after submitting at least aprox 200??? applications I've recently got an awesome position. 1st interview and I got it!!! I let them know regardless of the outcome I would be applying again and they would be seeing my name again and again until I get through...and I meant it too!

I am a newly licensed nurse and I have filled out several apps all over Florida.....literally all over Florida. I am in Jacksonville and they rarely hire new nurses so i realized to become employed I may have to move. I hope this helps someone. RN jobs for new grads are plentiful WE just have to go get them. Good Luck

Hey, lee memorial only hire new grads for the internship programs, I got the first interview with the human resources and the second with the hiring manager, and IM still waiting for them to call me.....
