jobless lpn in Fort Myers

Published

Hi,

I graduated January of last year and after 60 online applications, I finally was hired at rehab center. Unfortunately, i am moving to Fort myers Florida and EVERY application i have put in is asking for a twelve month minimum experience. I love what I do, and I never envisioned doing anything else but im so disappointed with the market, I was told that most places prefer hiring new nurses but that has not been the case. I have placed 56 applications online in the past month and have gotten the same message" we need at least a year experience" Where do I get the experience if no one wants to hire new nurses? Please help!

From what I understand, Fort Myers is the epicenter of the real estate crash in Florida. Since people are relocating away from the city, this reduces the demand for healthcare services, which directly reduces the demand for nurses in the area. You might want to commute within a 50 mile radius of the city if you really want to land a job.

Also, you may wish to submit applications in person when you arrive to Fort Myers. A faxed or emailed resume can be ignored, but a positive applicant who is applying in person is much more difficult to brush aside. Good luck to you!

Thanks. that is a very good point. I will make arrangement to get there in person. Thanks again for the reply

I'm in the Tampa Bay area, unemployment here is close to 13%. Its very difficult to find a new grad nursing job of any kind for RN or LPN.

I can only imagine how bad Ft Meyers is. I'm curious to know why you are relocating there.

I'm actualyy relocating because housing is more affordable than miami. Smaller town, great school. It's a great place to have a family and tetire but u must have a good job. :)
