One of my nurse friends decided not to go through the monitoring program etc and voluntarily surrendered her license. I was wondering what jobs those of you that have done the same thing ended up getting? Healthcare is so ingrained in you it must be difficult to switch to another field.

I waited tables for a bit, worked in a women's recovery home, and now I work for a medium sized company -- customer service. None has been as fulfilling as nursing was to me. I am attempting to get my license back now, after 15 years.
However, I have loved other jobs, just not as much. It is possible. Good luck to your friend.

I was two years into my five year monitoring program and had to drop due to financial trouble. I became a grocery store manager and, later, a Walmart manager. After getting fired from the Walmart job.... long story.... I decided that I needed to get back into nursing. That's where I'm happiest and at ease.
So, here I am, peeing in a cup twice a month and finishing a 90 day period before I can start looking for a job. I have a job waiting for me, I hear. The state allowed me to pick up where I left off in the monitoring program.
