U.S.A. Arizona

Specializes in Postpartum.

My husband and I moved to Austin 6 months ago. I'm an RN with 9 yrs. exp. in mother/baby and have not been able to find a job. I told recruiters I would pretty much work in any area and any shift. Nothing. We are thinking of moving to Phoenix. I worked in Phoenix in 2006 and didn't have problems finding a job. Have thing changed? I'm not in a position to wait another 6 months. Also, does anybody now what cities are still hiring?

Specializes in ICU, Research, Corrections.

Yes, times have changed. It is actually difficult to find a staff RN job even if you have experience. You will find for every job posted there is at least 20 applicants for it. Sorry for the bad news.

I work at University Medical Center in Tucson. Very good hospital. I love it. Wages have been an issue though because we are at the mercy of the economy because we are the only level one trauma center in Southern Arizona. I know for sure we are hiring. We have an excellent nursing human resources. I was so impressed with HR, that I swear to you I had never seen a hospital HR as good as UMC's. If you apply today, they will respond back to you the same day or the following morning. You can always speak with them over the phone. Hospital number is 520-694-0111 and ask for nursing human resources or nursing recruitment. I wouldn't recommend this hospital if I didn't mean it. THis is the third hospital in Arizona that I have worked in.

While I have no doubt there are loads of applicants for job here, there does not seem to be a shortage of job postings.

seems to have a good amount of postings.

Phoenix is really tight, but I would look into Flagstaff or Tucson.
