I took a course in legal nurse consulting - what i was hoping to find was a job helping another LNC or working for an attorney doing research, chart organization etc. rather than have an independent practice. do you think that's realistic?

I think that is very realistic, I too was hoping to work with another LNC and have some irons in the fire. I know there is an Attorney in Tucson who was looking to employ an LNC, so they are out there
now, how do you go about finding those jobs, and how would they be advertised do you think?
Hi,
I am a member of the AALNC and was contacted by an Attorney who read my information on there and asked did I know a nurse who would be willing to relocate to Tucson to work for them full time. They did request BSN as minimum qualification. There are so many advantages of being a member of a Professional Organisation.
I dont know what salary they were willing to pay, I just know they werent willing to pay what I expected . Another way would be to send your resume to some Law Firms and see if they are hiring. :nuke:
i was a member of AALNC for 1 year and didn't get any response from my listing in the LNC locator so I let my membership laspe. I did enjoy the meetings though, but didn't really find any work from them. i have a child with cp, so i really need to get something from home. i am frustrated because all of the job leads eventually turned to nothing, and it seems alot of LNC's are in the same boat.

Similar situation here. Have completed the LNC Course through UGA, which indicated there would be leads for internships if GPA was >95. I worked very hard to achieve this and was told in the end that portion of the program had been discontinued. The course was very tough. I have joined AALNC as well, but am looking to work alongside another LNC to begin with. Maybe there's a business opportunity for someone to set up a service. There is one I found: www.RoseCliffordInternships.com but it is pricey.

Madwife2002, is it harder to work in a lawyer's office or consult? I was alway under the impression that working in a law office would be very treacherous as opposed to working as an independent contractor or consultant. In my opinion, the mindset of so many lawyers seems twisted. What's your opinion?
I have thought about a lawyers office but they dont always want to pay enough money. I did get an enquiry and when I asked her to match my wages from the Hospital, they said I was too expensive, and they had asked me to relocate to Tucson. My thoughts were that I would work for the lawyer for a year.
