1st Time Poster!!!!!
I applied for an advertised staff position at a facility within walking distance of my home. How cool is that? Approximately 3 weeks after applying, I landed an interview. On a Monday, I interviewed with every "important" person at the facility, and was ultimately offered the position on the spot. I was given a start date which would be 2 weeks away. Long story short, on the Wednesday following the interview, I received a call from the hiring manager stating that the job offer was being rescinded. He stated that the person I would be replacing had rescinded their 2 week notice, so the position was no longer open. I was given the "It's nothing you did" speech. He assured me that if another position opened up, I would be the first one considered.
Now here's the problem: Fast forward 1 month, I'm browsing on the web & I see that this same facility has just posted several job openings. What the f***? I'm so ******!!!!! I don't know what to do. I don't have anything negative on my background but I'm starting to doubt what the Hiring Manager initially said to me. Should I call the facility and find out why I haven't been contacted? Do I give it more time and hope that I'll be contacted?
I would definitely show up with the ad in interview attire and see what is going on.
I'd watch my approach if I were you. They do not owe you any explanation (nor will thru give you one if they have a reason for not hiring you). I would either re-submit my resume, send an e-mail or call the recruiter (or whomever the contact is), and re-introduce yourself. After that, act ad if you are starting from scratch; don't assume they remember any of the questions they asked you, or that they still have any of your paperwork.
There are many possible answers to why you didn't get a call. I know it's frustrating. It reminds me of when I was on a dating website: I went out with this dude maybe 3 times, then he started making excuses for not keeping our dates. He blamed it on his ex-wife (and the situation with his kid and visitation). He said he realized he wasn't ready to start dating yet, b/c of all that drama. About 2 weeks later, he reactivated his profile, and was looking for someone else... Obviously not me

I would definitely show up with the ad in interview attire and see what is going on. At the same time I would probably try to find out what the turnover rate is at that facility. It might be a blessing in disguise if the facility has a shoddy reputation.
