I have my first job interview as an LPN tomorrow, so I have no idea what it will be like. Its at a LTC facility. What should I do to prepare? What questions might be asked? Thanks so much!

Wear professional, conservative clothes. Even though you'll be wearing scrubs to work, wear something nice to the interview. No jeans, no plunging necklines. A skirt or nice pants and a nice blouse are good, a blazer along with it can't hurt if you have one. If you don't have the outfit, you can always check Goodwill for a basic black skirt and a nice blouse!
Think ahead about answers the the questions "what are your strengths?" and "what are your weaknesses?" Nobody likes answering those two questions, but it's very possible they will come up, and you don't want to have a deer-in-the-headlights stare when they do, so think up an answer ahead of time. Being hardworking, a quick learner, a caring person are all great strengths. The weakness question is a little trickier. I have always heard it's good to list a weakness that can be viewed as a strength, such as "I am a perfectionist which can sometimes slow me down, but I like doing things the right way." But you can also list something that is true about you that won't affect the job you are interviewing for. For example, I personally am a very nice, caring nurse and I love teaching (patient teaching, teaching students, etc), but I am not someone who would be a good staff manager. I don't ever want to be a nursing manager or a charge nurse. (I am just saying this about me... this is NOT how I would say it in the interview!) Saying that I love working with people but that managing people is not a strength of mine is honest, and it's OK to say if I am not interviewing for a management position and I do not plan on moving my career that direction.
Otherwise, be yourself. If a question throws you, take a minute to think it through, don't just start babbling. Be positive. Have a few questions to ask them about the organization or the work environment there, since they will probably ask you at some point in the interview if you have questions. Don't have one of your questions be about what the pay rate is...let them bring that up when it's time.

I had a job interview for another unit in my hospital this past week. I prepared by rehearsing answers to some common questions. Here are some of the questions I was asked in my interview:
Why do you want this job?
What five words would you use to describe youself?
How do you handle stress while at work?
Describe how you are a team player?
Why should I hire you for this job?
What in you life are you the most proud of?
I also reheorificed:
Greatest weaknesses
Greatest strengths
Also:
Know exactly how to get to your interview location. Drive to the location the day before (if you need to) and makes sure you know where to park. Arrive 15 minutes early on the day of the interview.

Wear something you are comfortable in so you don't fidget as much. Know the facilities mission statement pretty well!

Many facilities are now going to behavioral interviews. Here is 2 links to a good site that may be beneficial. I use some of the questions in my interviews with potential applicants as my administration also prefers behavioral type interviews in lieu of "what would you do" they want to know "what have you done" in certain type situations and experiences.
