There are a few sites that can help give you some insight
Also as someone previously posted the National Kidney Foundation
On the patients end which can help you understand some of the issues they encounter and thier side of what they are feeling is www.ihatedialysis.com
If you have no previous background in dialysis they should be willing to train you. Also be sure they do offer you a good training program as there is alot of technical and very specialized. It takes a good year to feel comfortable in most cases. Also ask how it may affect your ability to go to other units if later you decide you dont like it. Many of us who have left dialysis (including inpt) had doors closed because the hospitals didnt consider it "bedside" nursing. Dont ask me why but it happens frequently. I have a friend left Acutes and the hospitals stated she didnt have "recent" med/surg or bedside experience...hmm go figure. I'm having the same issue also but I just left a chronic unit. Dialysis is a love it or hate it job.

I just got an email about having a job interview for a job at the county hospital. It said I would have to undergo an oral exam - a structured interview process that will assess your education, training, and experience and may include a practical exercise. THE THING IS I HAVE NO EXPERIENCE ON DIALYSIS... And I would like to read up on it and get some tips for the interview.
PLEASE SUGGEST SOME GOOD READING MATERIAL...
AND MAYBE SOME INTERVIEW TIPS?
ANY HELP WOULD BE APPRECIATED... THANKS.
