Hi all,

I am seeking employment as a new graduate CRNA - will be graduating in December and have been told that I should start looking about 5 months out.

I have completed a couple applications online but I believe that as soon as I click the "no" box to the question "Are you a graduate of an accredited CRNA program?" and the "Are you licensed as a CRNA?" I am automatically filtered out, even if the job description states that no experience is necessary. I have received a couple automated emails directly after submitting my application that say I "do not meet minimum requirements."

I have tried contacting HR for these hospitals - one I was able to get in touch with but they told me it is too soon to apply because they are looking to fill this position immediately.

However, another position that I am extremely interested in does not have any HR contact information. When I called that hospital operator and asked for HR, the line goes straight to the HR voicemail, which states that they do not provide job application status over the phone. Does anybody have any advice as to how to approach this situation- where I believe my application is automatically filtered out and I will not be able to apply until after I can answer "yes" to the questions I stated above? How can I get into contact with the hiring manager or chief CRNA? As I said, absolutely no information is posted online. (Some hospitals have nurse recruiter info online or even the email of the Chief CRNA but not this one). I was hoping to secure a job prior to graduation, even if I still need to wait a few months.

Thanks in advance for any advice!

Edit: P.S. - Mods if you can please not send this to the Student forum I would really appreciate it. I am looking for advice from CRNAs who have been in the position of actively job hunting or hiring CRNAs. Thank you.

Call and ask for the head of the anesthesia department. If you have several locations in mind, put together a cover letter and CV and send it to: Attention Department of Anesthesia. Networking is very important in a job search. Attending professional meetings can help.

This^^^. Find out the names of the department chief, the president of the physician group that contracts with the hospital and the chief CRNA and send all of them a cover letter and a CV. Avoid "HR" at all costs. They'll advise HR that they are hiring you and to take care of the details.

You'll have the job you want in no time.

PS...do a cold call (call and set a time to come and visit) to a place you really want to work.

Thank you! offlabel, do you have any ideas as to how to find the name/contact info of the department chief or chief CRNA without calling and asking? Or is calling and asking the most appropriate way?
