Nurses Job Hunt

Published

Hey everyone, I graduated from an ADN program in the bay area, CA, and passed my nclex this month after 6mo., it wasn't me it was the application process taking forever. I had a question for you nurses and murses out there about applying to jobs. Should I apply to a hospital even tho the qualifications mention "BSN Graduate of an accredited nursing school within the past 6-12 months". Does suddenly knock me out of the application pool? And can someone tell me if hospitals will accept nursing facility or sub acute facility as work experience?

What is the worst that will happen if you apply to BSN-only positions? You will not be called back. If you are willing to deal with the chance of your phone not ringing, go ahead and apply to BSN-only job openings.

The Bay area has been home to one of the worst employment markets in the entire country for about seven years. With an ADN, the chances of securing hospital employment in that area are slim to none unless you have an internal contact or network of friends inside the hospital system.
