Job change after failing

I was wondering if anyone had a job as a GN then failed the test then was demoted to an aide? That is what most hospitals around here do.

Is going the other direction also true?

At the hospital I worked at I was told that you couldn't work as an aid/pca if you passed the boards - that it was illegal. But at another hospital in the area a student in my class passed the NCLEX and her manager kept her on as an aid/pca for almost 6 weeks and than sent her through RN training.

Good question I have been looking for the same answer for if I pass will I be able to work untill I find a job ?

I think it varies from institution what their policies are. My best friend did not pass her first time they demoted her to an aide, but she passed the second time and is now a RN.
