Hello there!

I just applied to JJC for the Spring of 2017? I wondering if there is anyone else out there who is applying and what your TEAS V/GPA scores were? I got a 74 composite on TEAS V with 77 in science. I have a 4.0 GPA but have only completed 1 pre-req. Anyone willing to share? I would also be interested in anyone who applied last term who wanted to share scores.

Thanks!

I got a 75 on my TEAS and got in. My score should have been higher but I ran out of time on 2 of the sections and that dragged me down a lot. All schools are different, but mine did not weight the science section as heavily as the math. From what I was told the way the point system worked is you get 1 point for a B, and 2 points for an A in the science classes. GPA throws in a few points, as does the math class. The TEAS I was told would give you 1 point if you scored above an 80 in Math and Reading, and subtract one point if you got below a 60. They gave me political correctness points (which I think is absurd) for being male and older, but those were 1 point each.

At least as far as my school is concerned, the TEAS can help but it was not nearly as important as the grades in A&P1/2 and micro. Do well in those classes as well as a high GPA and you should be fine; unless you are going to an incredibly competitive school in which case who knows. I have heard some horror stories about straight A students who get 90 plus on the TEAS and don't get in on the first attempt because there are not enough spots. Barring that, a 74 is not going to hurt you too much getting in; hell, it is still higher than the national average

Hi! I applied for Spring 2017 as well. My composite score was 78.7%. I have a 4.0 gpa and I have 4/6 prereqs completed. Good Luck!!

There's another thread on here about the Spring 2017 application and I posted this comment on there, but I thought I'd post it on here too! I just left JJC after speaking with a nursing advisor and she said that they haven't received the number of applicants that applied yet, but she did say about halfway through the application period there were 109 applicants so she said she would guess a little over 200 have applied. She said she would guess around 2 weeks from now is when we will get emails to sign up to write the essay (for those under an 80 Teas score) and that the essay would take place around the end of July, and thennnn around mid to end of August we find out if we got in the program or not. She also said my 67 teas score is good enough to get in, but not having Bio 250 and 251 done yet would be what would probably hurt my chances. But she said write a good essay and you never know! Good luck everyone!

I was really hoping there would be less applications for the spring semester. Oh well. I do know they said their goal is to have everyone's status by start of fall classes. If I don't get in this session I would move my micro class to the spring possibly. Hmm guess we will see- Melissa
