JJC Nursing Program: Fall of 2015

Nursing Students Pre-Nursing

Published

Hi, ya'll! I just thought I would try to connect with any other hopefuls that are going to attempt to be accepted into JJC's Nursing program for Fall of 2015. Was curious as to how you are all feeling about your possibility of being accepted. (I.e teas score, pre-reqs, gpa, etc.)

Hope to meet some new friends to share this journey with! Any other "seasoned" nursing students that read this, care to shed some light on what I should be preparing myself for?

It helps a LOT! Thank you so much! I put that I prefer evenings, and am hoping that if I do get in, I will get an evening spot.

Thank you for all the tips!!

Monac,

Do you know when we should be eagerly waiting to see that email telling us if we got in or not? It looks like the people that applied in the fall found out Sept. 25th. Does this mean around the end of March we will find out? This wait is gonna kill me. LOL At least the TEAS is outta the way.

The advisor said sometime mid-end of March.

How did you do your second time?

My transcript now reads 81 composite and 69 in Science. I wish my Science score was higher, but at least I raised my comp. to over an 80! When I took my test, all of the people taking the TEAS filled the entire room. They said it's been like that for every testing session for the past week or two. I wonder if there's going to be an extremely high number of applicants this round. I'm so nervous!

Hey, congrats!! And now you're making me nervous. Hopefully not all those people scored over 80. Ha!

From what I've been told by advisors, it's pretty rare for a lot of people to score over an 80. I am nervous, too! Sorry to make you nervous; I am sure you have nothing to worry about! You had a killer TEAS score. Plus 4.0 with all your pre-reqs, correct?

Yes. But if there are enough over-80 scores, we go back in the lottery.

It's in God's hands. I've worked as hard as I could. :-)

Same here. What's meant to be, will be. Good luck! Hope to meet you soon :)

Hi there, I took teas test yesterday and what a crazy day to take it, Friday the 13th. I should have waited but I was under assumption that I had to take it before I applied to the program. I'm not sure how bad or good my score is I received a composite score of 66.7 proficient. I have taken all prerequisites and even more classes that used to be required but are not now. Like I've taken 4 psych classes and 2 sociology where only 2 and 1 are required now. Any thoughts on this? I'm not sure how to figure out the g.p.a for the pre reqs do we look at cum g.p.a. or semester?

Hi, LisaLoo14!

You had to have the TEAS completed by the 15th, so Friday would have been the last day to take it. So, I'm glad you got it done! That is, because I am assuming they do not do testing on Saturdays and Sundays. Did you ever meet with a nursing advisor? Your gpa would be based off of the classes that are pre-reqs for the program only. I have not heard very many scores yet, so I don't know what the "average" score is. I know they are looking at composite score and Science score now.

Lisaloo,

Have you heard any other people discussing their scores on the TEAS and/or their gpa/pre-reqs, etc?
