U.S.A. Illinois

Hey I don't know if a thread has already been started for this program but I am interested in applying for the February 15th deadline for the Fall 2015 start date at JJC. I haven't signed up for my TEAS yet because I don't want to pick a date that is too early or too late since I also need to begin studying but I was thinking about signing up for the Feb 2nd 4th or 5th date. If anyone else is applying to the program or is currently in the program please feel free to reply and share anything that you can. Thanks =)

I don't know offhand anything about the lpn to rn program, but I know they had a lot of info on the site. Did you check out Pages - Joliet Junior College

Hi! I'm surprised that I have yet to see of any other Fall hopefuls on this site. Did you decide which date you are going to take the TEAS? I am still undecided. Also, are you purchasing the practice tests from the sites? If you already did, how are they? Getting down to the wire now! Ahhhhh! :)

Hello! I chose the 12th of next month for the romeoville campus. I'm so nervous because I haven't really began studying yet but I did purchase the ati study guide and I was scared it would take a while to come but I ordered on the 19th and it was here like the very next day! i didnt purchase the online practice exams though but im hoping that the study guide alone will still be helpful. when are you taking your exam?

Im sorry for taking so long to reply! The ATI study manual was a book, but the tests you can buy and they just give you an access code to plug into their website... I would recommend doing those if you've already taken the TEAs. It will give you an idea of what to brush up on. The short essay is a part of the new admission criteria starting this semester. I don't remember how much its worth but they factor it into your overall score. If you go on the JJC website, it will be under the nursing admissions section. Good luck!!

Thanks for all of this information! well hopefully I will do well on this essay and i purchased the book but i didn't want to spend too much money so i opted out of the online practice exams so hopefully the study guide alone is still helpful

I actually kept forgetting to schedule my TEAS, so I just did so now. Thank goodness I didn't wait any longer, because they were mostly sold out! I am also taking mine on the 12th of February, but at the main campus. I am SO nervous about applying and taking this test!

Are you applying right away on the first, or waiting until after you take your TEAS?

I was going to wait to submit my application after i took the test and got my score. I think I read someone saying that it was better to do it that way in a previous thread but I'm not sure if it actually matters.

Do you happen to know if the essay question is part of the TEAS or a requirement for the application?

There is no essay on the TEAS test. The essay will come in to play if and when they need to narrow down the prospects. When I called the Nursing department the other day, they said it didn't matter if you apply first and take your test afterwards since they will not look at any applications until after they are all in on the 15th. Maybe you can call and see what they say about it, and then come share what they tell you here so we know what to do? :)

ok, thanks. So when did you plan on submitting your application?

I went ahead and submitted my application today, after receiving confirmation that as long as the TEAS is taken before the end of the application period ( Feb 15th), it does not matter when we submit the application itself. Now I just have to crack down and start studying for this test! I am soooo nervous!

yup I was told the same thing. I submitted mine today as well. I'm glad I'm not the only one that hasn't really studied yet lol my mind is just all over the place I need to buckle down and focus especially on the science portion. I'm very nervous as well! =(

Also, I called about the essay and yeah the essay portion is not required for everyone just those who I guess score below an 80 and have a good chance of getting in, in order for them to narrow it down. That just puts more anxiety and pressure on me lol

Also, did you put down a preference for time? I put down that I had no preference because right now I am not working but I pray that if I do get into the program whichever section I end up in will allow me time to still work if I happen to get hired somewhere.

I read in a different forum that there is like 60 something spots for day and 24 or so for night. I put that I prefer evenings, but can do days. I really prefer evenings because i have 3 kids to take care of in the mornings and such, but I don't want to take away an evening spot ( if I get in) from somebody who really only CAN do evenings. Do you know what I mean? I'm debating whether or not I want to purchase the online practice test. SIGH. SO MUCH PRESSURE!
