JHU Fall 2018 MSN Entry into Nursing

Nursing Students School Programs

Published

Has there been a thread created for Johns Hopkins Fall 2018 MSN Entry into Nursing program? is there anyone applying to this program??

Thanks!

Hi everyone!

A huge congrats to those who have already been accepted :) I am finishing up with my JHU fall application but am having trouble hearing back from my letter of rec writers because of winter break. Does anyone know if it is acceptable if the letters are received after the January 1st deadline? Thanks!

How much?

It was for 25000

Does anyone know if other graduate schools (other than Hopkins) will accept some of the credits from the classes from this MSN program if we want to pursue a DNP/DNAP degree after this MSN in the future?

We have to found out about it?

Yeah I don't think that all schools will accept all credits from Hopkins. I know JHU will allow up to 15/16 credits for their DNP program but other schools may have different limits on how many credits they will count for you from your previous Masters/graduate level course work. Thus, I was just curious if anyone from previous years who has graduated has attempted to apply to DNP programs and what was their success in having these JHU credits be accepted for credit if they didn't just apply to the DNP program at JHU?

Something to consider when going to this MSN direct entry program at JHU.

Also does JHU require you to have one year of work experience before being able to start the DNP program? I know most programs do but I wonder if the direct NP programs differ in how they require students to meet this requirement (such Vanderbilt or UPenn or others).

Hi,

So I don't think JHU offers a Midwifery program and from my experience working on a Labor and Delivery floor, Maryland is not a Midwifery friendly state (in terms of the laws governing provider privileges). This is the reason University of MD has discontinued it's Midwifery program.

Hey everyone, congrats on the acceptances! One admissions representative noted that the deadline for the admissions deposit was January 24th, but I won't be hearing back from other programs until atleast early-February! Is anyone else in the same boat? What are your plans in this situation? I've already contacted a JHU representative about an extension, but I haven't heard back!

what other schools are you waiting to hear back from?

According to a new document that I found the new cost of the program for five semesters, including estimates for tuition, room, board, and fees, is about $158,530.

There is a pdf that describes the full price and giv s the details on all fees on the JHU Nursing website. Very informative. Keep in mind that this is all inclusive including estimates for book expenses and travel expenses, etc.

I'll post the document where I got this info from at a later time (it only shows an estimate of cost for 3 semesters for 2017-18). I don't have access to a computer right now. Maybe someone has already looked at that pdf and can post the link ahead of me.

hope the link works: https://nursing.jhu.edu/admissions/financial-aid/coa/MEN_cost.pdf

Has anyone created a Facebook group for this fall 2018 entry/class of spring 2020 cohort??

Hi! i joined the jhu son MSN facebook page. I think one for our cohort would be good to get to know eachother, discuss housing and everything about our program. Should we start one?
