Hello I live in Philadelphia. I just heard of a new school that just opened. It's a 15month lpn to RN program. You will will have ypur associates degree but the program is 30k! Is this exspensive or is it just me? Has anyone heard about the school or know anyone who attends?
I recently graduated from Jersey College of nursing and knew I had to write a review to protect other people from attending this school. One the me you will see over and over when you read reviews about this school is DISORGANIZED. In my 2nd semester, I had 3 teachers for one subject. A teacher would start, realize how bad the school was, and then quit. Many times, we had no instructor at all. This again happened in my 6th semester where we had 5 different instructors for clinicals. Many other problems existed at clinical sights. ALL our clinical experiences were at nursing homes. That is except for pediatrics and OB in which case there were NO clinical sights and we just sat in a classroom 4 nights a week. I did not learn Jersey College cannot get into any hospitals and constantly blame things like their lack of a bachelor's degree program. This is a lie. The real reason they cannot get into clinical sites is because of their poor reputation. Also, when I toured the school, they show a well-equipped SIM lab. In 2 years, we visited the SIM lab twice. This is for multiple reasons. Disorganization is again a key culprit since many instructors are new and do not know how to work the simulation equipment and received no training. As a general rule, out instructors were hired, then in the classroom the next day with no training. And finally, the WORST part of this school is their exit exam. If you do not pass their exit exam, they will not release you to take the NCLEX. The problem is, you get such a poor education that all your knowledge at this point is self-taught through books. Jersey College requires a significantly higher score than other school in town. Jersey College requires a 925 on the HESI, whereas most schools require an 850. As I write this review, over half my class has not passed the exit. We completed the 22 month†program 3 months ago, but Jersey still will not let them sit for the boards until they pass this test. So, our 22 month program is now a 25 month program. I passed the exit exam, then the NCLEX, but it was all self-study and self-taught. I highly discourage anyone from attending this school. You will get a substandard education
I heard this school had a bad reputation as well. Some of my colleagues at work are attending this school and they are really struggling. I do not know what is up with this school but for any consumer interested in this school, I highly recommend them to look up the nclex pass rates. That is the most indicative of a program's effectiveness in helping its student pass the NCLEX-RN exam. Also, look at how many students sit for the exam in a program. It really matters if a program can sit only 15 students at a pass rate of 90+% or if a program sits 70 and has a pass rate of 88+%. The program that only sits 15 students is probably not good with instructing their students if only 15 come out of their program to test.
