Jefferson State Community College Fall 2015 Applicants

I wanted to start a thread for all who are planning on applying to the Fall 2015 nursing program. I feel it will be very helpful in the process. I just moved to Alabama in May of last year & was originally going for Physical Therapy (not assistant, actual therapist). Well that has fallen through & I feel led to go the nursing route. I already have a bachelors degree from another college so all my prerequisites are done (just wished I would have done a little better -hince my PT problem). I have signed up for my TEAS test for February 5th so hopefully if I don't get what I want I can retake it in time for the application. I emailed one of the advisors at the Shelby campus & she said the average applicant is at 60% /90pts. When I calculate that up it doesn't seem like much. So my goal is to make around 85% or more, but we shall see. I just know I need to do VERY,VERY well on the TEAS to make up for my grades not being all A's.

How about anyone else, where do you all stand with applying this fall? Are you doing full time, night-weekend? Which campus are you all applying to?

I am praying that we hear something this week. Last year, they started hearing around tomorrow. So I'm praying that is the case. That would be an awesome way to celebrate the weekend.

I hope we start hearing tomorrow too! I've heard three different things: It should be this week, it'll be by the end of the month, and there is no specific time! Hoping for the first!

@ crumpam, I agree I hope it starts tomorrow. I would feel better to know that one person got accepted right now. At least it's a start. Looks like last year they started with the night/weekend program, and I will take that too!

I made doctor's appointments for next Monday. I was hoping to have the medical forms by then to take with me. I am a planner, so this part is very frustrating to me.

DavidMcc thank you so much. I really wanted Shelton to be my number one pick but I went and talked to the advisor one day and she told me that the clinicals start at 6:30 in the morning. My only problem is that I have two little ones that I have to get to school and I can't drop my oldest off until 6:30. I spoke to a girl while I was there that is currently in the program and she said the same as you. She really likes it there and highly recommends it. Hopefully I will find out this week for both programs so I can make a decision about what I am going to do. Good luck to you. I am also applying to the Jefferson campus so hopefully we will make it.

I applied for the Clanton Campus in Chilton County. Anyone else here applied for that campus? When I turned in my application she placed it in a manila envelope....I was the 24th person. I'm wondering how many other manila envelopes there were; because surely there wasn't only 24 people that applied to the clanton campus?!?!! But from this board it doesn't look like there are any :( maybe that's a good sign for me!!! Less applicants for my campus better my chances right?

Fall registration for classes starts June 29th at the Clanton Campus so I would think we would hear something at least a week before to give us time to get everything in order.

Ok, so according to last year's post, people started finding out today! I'm praying it happens for us this year as well. I'm tired of thinking about this now. I'm just ready to start planning.

So glad I found this thread! I hope we found out today too because checking my email every five seconds is getting old. I have applied to the Shelby daytime program (Chilton as my 2nd choice) with 202 points. Good luck to everyone this week!

So I just found out that I got into Sheltons program. Hoping we hear something soon. I have to return my acceptance back by June 23rd. The only bad thing is that their orientation is on July 7th and I will be out of town and it states it is mandatory. Don't know what to do. If we don't hear anything by Friday I think I am going to call and see if there is anyway they can let me know.
