I wanted to start a thread for all who are planning on applying to the Fall 2015 nursing program. I feel it will be very helpful in the process. I just moved to Alabama in May of last year & was originally going for Physical Therapy (not assistant, actual therapist). Well that has fallen through & I feel led to go the nursing route. I already have a bachelors degree from another college so all my prerequisites are done (just wished I would have done a little better -hince my PT problem). I have signed up for my TEAS test for February 5th so hopefully if I don't get what I want I can retake it in time for the application. I emailed one of the advisors at the Shelby campus & she said the average applicant is at 60% /90pts. When I calculate that up it doesn't seem like much. So my goal is to make around 85% or more, but we shall see. I just know I need to do VERY,VERY well on the TEAS to make up for my grades not being all A's.
How about anyone else, where do you all stand with applying this fall? Are you doing full time, night-weekend? Which campus are you all applying to?
Hey everybody! I literally applied to every campus. I am hoping to get into the N/W program because I have a 3 year old, a nine month old, and my husband just started the CLT program. I have a total of 209 points. We just moved back to Alabama after four years in North Carolina (my husband was in the Marines). I tried to get into a nursing program there but the programs there are VERY hard to get into and mostly are not accredited. Good luck to everyone!!!
I only applied to the Jefferson campus. Applied with 200 points. Hopefully we will hear something this week. Maybe they are just telling us the end of the month to keep us going crazy. Good luck to everyone and hopefully everyone is able to get their first choice. I also applied to Shelton. Their deadline was June 1st and they said we should hear something this week. Of course they didn't have as many applications to review, I think someone said they had around 250.
Glad to see I'm not the only one who hasn't heard anything! I am getting impatient too. Don't classes start mid-August? It seems kinda crazy that they don't let applicants know until so close to classes actually starting - doesn't give people much time to make arrangements . I applied for the full time day program with 233 points - Shelby 1st, Jefferson 2nd.
Full time Jefferson first, night/weekend Shelby second although I'm sort of wishing I had reversed that order. I never crunched the numbers on my score but I'm certain I have well over 200 points. My only concern is that admissions drug their feet processing my application to the school. The official letter I got was dated May 19th. I'm going to be really upset if I don't get in because they took over 2 weeks to process my application.
Aingram... I was in the Shelton State RN program two years ago. I thought you might like to know that I found the quality of the program, facilities, and instruction to be very good. I would have stayed, but it was too difficult on my family for me to go to school 70 miles away 4 days a week. So here I am with my ducks in row a little better (hopefully) starting over at a school 12 miles from home. If you or anyone else have questions about Shelton, I'll gladly try to answer them.
Yes @DavidMcc I would be upset too if they deny you based on their error. I had to make sure my last transcript was entered before the deadline as well. It was sent on the Friday before the deadline, but I was told the person who enters them was working on graduation things. I was thinking why wouldn't they ask someone else to help with that knowing they have a deadline coming up. I called on 11th all day to make sure it was entered BEFORE the 12th. I made it, but I thought what if I wasn't so diligent and adamant about getting it done?

I talked to the advisor today and she said it will be closer to the end of the month.
