any Jeff State Fall 2011 hopefuls out there??
I am taking the TEAS V Wednesday, so then I will know how many points I have!!! :)
Hi CNA2RN13 I wish I didn't have to work while in nursing school but unfortunately with my husband on disability I can't afford to quit.I only work part time (about 15-20 hours a week) but I am still afraid that I won't put enough time into studying. But I will have to make time!! I am pretty good at prioritizing. I looked at the graduation pics on Jeff States web site. One of these days we will be there. I can't wait!!!
Yes teejazzy it is getting closer. I will so glad to finally find out all the info esp. about the books. That is what I am most worried about. I have been trying to price them on different websites. But I think I read on here that they give you a list that breaks down each semester and what books you will need. I know on the bookstore website the bundle of new books for 102 is $700. That is a lot of money! But I am sure I can figure something out. I know I have a lot of questions for tomorrow, just hope I don't forget one lol.
I'm on pell, but the nursing courses this semester only count for two credits. I hope they don't make me take two or three other classes to stay full time. I have to have it! Has anyone else asked someone in the nursing dept how this works? I know nursing credits run different. I can't register now anyways because my last school won't be sending my grades to Jeff state until after August 8th, and they are holding my award until then. I always heard they register us after orientation.
@ teejazzy Our orientation is at 1:00 pm. I work at a summer day care program and one of the girls in my class mom got into the night program at the Shelby campus. So she will be in your classes I am going to see what they say about books tomorrow, and then check around online again.
@CNA2RN13 I have always been told that financial aid will not pay for any classes not required for your major. I had only one pre req left to take this summer and thought abought taking medical terminology to be at least part time. But financial aid told me that they would not pay for the class since it is not one of the required courses for the nursing program. So I dropped it. Hope that helps. :)
To receive your full financial aid award you have to have 12 credit hours regardless if you're a nursing student or not. I'll be full time at Shelby and I've got to take an additional 4 credit hour course to receive my full aid since the nursing classes are only considered 8 credit hours.
That would mean I would have to take 3 more classes to be full time, since I only have 2 nursing credits. EEK. I only have a few classes left that I can take towards the bachelors too. I'm going to see what other options I have tomorrow. Pell does help out if you change it to part time right? Thanks guys

I hate that we have to graduate two semesters later, but I'm going to be so glad I did PT when adult nursing, and Maternal/child nursing are separated instead of being thrown in my face at once. Plus, going through NS and not working just isn't a reality to most anymore. Has anyone else googled Jeff State graduation pics? Lol. Their ceremony is nice! (I'm a dork I guess).
