Japanese citizen studying nursing in Philippines

Hello,

I am currently taking my BS Nursing degree in PI. I am not sure if I can take the local board exam here or in my country. So I am worried if I could still take the NCLEX and / or CGNFS exam to work in the US after I graduate.

And if I can, what will be the process that I need to do since all of my transcripts will be from this country. Should I apply and take the exam from here or can I go back to Japan and do the tests from there?

Please help. I am confused about the next step after I finish my studies.

If you do not have Philippine citizenship then you can not sit local exam, only Phlippine citizens can sit the NLE.

What you have to be aware of is what are you going to do once you have qualified to maintain nurse experience whilst waiting for the US. You will be affected by retrogression and most other countries require a local exam. However you may get it waivered if you get the PRC to confirm in writing that you can not sit the NLE. Not sure if you will have an issues in Japan

You can do the RN application from any country you just need to arrange with your nursing school to send transcripts to the state BON and meet requirements for foreign trained nurse

you can apply for Licensure in the US with your nursing degree in the Philippines. You just have to provide the State (if required) of your choice that you cannot take the Philippine Boards because you are not a Filipino citizen. I'm sure the PRC can help you with this.

When applying, check your State BON of choice to know their requirements. CES from CGFNS and English exam are the most common requirement.

Good Luck!

I am a Japanese Citizen who studied nursing in the Philippines.

In Japan, you could take their board exam even if you have graduated in a foreign nursing school as long as you meet the requirements.

If you have undergone a total of 6 years in high school (junior and senior high), I dont see any problem..

thanks for you reply iamnomad and Silverdragon102 , hishi thanks a lot too!! but I'm afraid the test will all be in Kanji :rolleyes:I will be having some difficulties since I have studied and are only aware of the medical words in English as well as the drugs that are used here in PI. And also our education system here are elementary 6 years and highschool 4 years only not 6...so i'm just wondering if there will be an issue with that part..
