I finally commissioned today as an Ensign in the Navy Nurse Corps! :anpom:
It's official now after signing my name about fifty times on fifty different forms. So I'm headed to ODS in January. Class starts January 4th. Anyone else going?
Hi Everyone! I am a newly "selected" nurse for the navy waiting for my commission papers! I wanted to know a couple things maybe you guys can answer...
1. Upon receiving your "commissioning papers" or being commissioned, do you get your orders the same day? (I'd like to know that I don't have to wait more time to receive my orders...)
2. When do you receive your first paycheck? During ODS?
3. What do you do with all of your personal items that you don't need to bring to ODS but need otherwise when you move to your first location? Do they pack and ship for you?
I'm excited and glad that they have a forum such as this...It has given me a lot of useful information..it has been more than the info my recruiter has provided me with!

No you can use whatever shoe you want. We all had various kinds of shoes. If you were in OCS or something they want regularity, but for ODS, they are more lenient. Get shoes that you will wear and like after ODS!
Keep those questions coming!
