For those who have gone to ODS....I hope you read this!!! My flight arrives late saturday. Check in isn't until sunday. Will I have a place to sleep?! Or do I need to make my own arrangements?

You have a good chance of getting a waiver since you are on the healthcare side of things. I got a waiver for depression and vision, both of which were waiverable because I was applying for a healthcare position. Otherwise, it'd be a no go.

If the doc wrote for meds for depression, there could be a diagnosis in your medical records. I suggest checking with the doctor to see what is in your records. I agree, as long as the records don't contain anything with depression. If depression...

I really like the new khaki uniforms - they look very sharp. And the Blue camo looks good. Would the blue camo be a nurse's equivalent of scrubs??? I've seen some navy nurses working the floor in the current khaki uniform, but these new uniforms look...

I'm active duty, 4yrs. I believe that Navy reserves go to a different school that is even shorter than ODS, but I could be wrong. There are a couple of threads in this forum from the past month or two about people's experiences at ODS. They all prov...
I finally commissioned today as an Ensign in the Navy Nurse Corps! :anpom: It's official now after signing my name about fifty times on fifty different forms. So I'm headed to ODS in January. Class starts January 4th. Anyone else going?

Great questions! I'm especially curious about body sprays/lotions/body wash. I'm addicted to Bath and Body Works. Although I haven't been to ODS yet, I can answer that you will need to bring a one piece conservative swimsuit, according to ODS' websit...

Sooo.....The holdup on my application hasn't been cleared up yet, and I pretty much missed the boat for the Nov. ODS class. Hope to comission soon, and then attend in January. I'll start a thread for January ODS soon. Anyone else going then?

So, the next ODS class starts this coming week. Time is running out and I may not be able to commission in time!!!! So think positive thoughts, say a prayer, do a dance, whatever....I really really want to stay positive and commission on Friday! Did ...

I received my orders yesterday! It seems they are written in Navalese . I will swear in early next week, leave for ODS shortly afterwards, and then report to Portsmouth.

I agree with the previous post. The IV is most likely good if there is no swelling, redness, and there's blood return. Lots of kids freak out with IVs, whether they hurt or not. One way to tell if it's pain or fear is to distract the kiddo- use paren...
