Hey everyone,
I was just wondering if any of you other Jan/Mar group MCCers have received anything from the school regarding books and supplies needed to be purchased.
I spoke with Mrs. Hupfel last week and she told me they sent out a letter earlier that week, I haven't received one however (live in the same zip code as MCC!) has anyone gotten theirs?

I havn't gotten a darn thing from the college! It really doesn't feel real yet at all. I'm knee deep in microbiology and scared to think what trauma the nursing classes will bring me :uhoh21:! I'm sure nursing must be so much more interesting, right? I'd love for the August group to check in and let us know how they are faring!

Hi, I just started in the August group...and let me just say it's been an extreamly fast paced five weeks! We just had our first exams on Monday, and I thank God I passed. There is a LOT of reading to do for each class, as well as various assignments and papers. It still doesn't even seem real to me at times, and I am actually taking the nursing classes! I think it will get "real" really fast once I start clinicals...okay, break time is over...back to the books!
Ooh give some details! :) How are the classes, homework, assigned reading, etc!? :)
Was the first test what you expected it to be?

The assigned reading needs to be done before going to the theory classes, so we will have an understanding of the material and can answer any questions that may be thrown our way. Do NOT underestimate the amount of time it will take you to get through the reading! There are almost always multiple chapters each from multiple textbooks that need to be read before each class...on top of the various assignments and papers that are due.
If you don't already have a tape/digital voice recorder, invest in one now because the lectures go so fast you have a hard time getting it all written down.
Lab is kind of fun, even though six hours makes for a long day. We do hands on skills that include getting into the hospital beds and playing the patient, so I highly recommend wearing comfy clothes...and long hair is best kept up in a ponytail and out of the way.
The first tests were harder than I expected. Hopefully I'll have a better grasp on what to expect for upcoming tests from these teachers. Basically, I currently spend about 5 hours per weekday reading and doing homework, and about 10 hours each Saturday and Sunday...and that's just so I don't get behind! Maybe that's just me though, but I don't think I'm the only one putting in that kind of time. If I'm not taking my kids back and forth to school, or making a quick run through the grocery store, I'm studying/reading. Whatever book I'm currently reading goes with me too, so when I get stuck waiting in the pickup line at my kids school I am not wasting any time.
The only reason I am fooling around on the computer now is that I have spent the last 10 1/2 hours finishing up my reading/assignments for tomorrow's theory classes, and I REALLY needed to unwind for a bit! Good luck to all of you who will be starting the program over the next several months...hope I haven't scared you off!
Thank you for the detailed response!
I don't doubt i'll end up studying like my life depended on it too, :)
If you get time to read this again, one last question, has your testing mentality changed from "A" to "pass" yet? :)
Yep...they're all pass/fail in my mind now, not just the clinicals. Kiss that 4.0 goodbye!
45 hours a week studying ! Goodness gracious !

Did you ever receive a letter? Who is Mrs. H, anyway? That's not Teri, is it? I havn't received anything from the college since the start date letter.
