2012 January Aria students?

Published

Hi. Anyone apply for Aria SON? for January 2012 start?:)

I just got on and saw everything. Coolbeans! :)

lol where on the page does it say "accepted"?

hi everyone! i feel like im butting in on the conversations you all have going but i applied for jan '12 as well and just wanted to say hello :D

i just had my interview today with julie and it went really well. very at ease in a comfy setting. although the neighborhood isnt exactly suburbia, once inside the building, it does feel like home. Im really excited about going to nursing school there and finally reaching my goals in becoming an RN.

some things that i read thru the posts i wanted to comment on:

-im so glad im not the only one nervous about this process.

-i saw that RAR Review on my page today as well.

-Julie said that letters would be going out 2-3weeks from this week ;]

-She said that the new building near Neshaminy will be open for us in the Spring/May term.

-I feel the opposite of everyone else. being the younger student, i feel intimidated because i should have been in nursing school 2 years ago and havent really done anything productive in those 2 years but take more elective classes or retook them at Temple.

-I'm reallllllly excited to start learning and doing clinicals with my classmates!!!

some questions i have for anyone who wants to share/help:

-do you know what the days will be like? commuting, clinicals; ie: traveling-wise (will we need cars or is septa good enough?)

-do any of those applying and waiting hold jobs in hospitals and do NOT have certifications in anything?

- i know its a while away, but are any of you thinking of doing the extra 13 weeks after the program to get ur BSN?

okie i think that helped my insomnia a little bit, the loud rain and thunder kept me awake. sorry for the long post but thanks for everyone that posted; it was nice to know im not alone :)

Hi @celeste27

yes i am planning on continuing and getting my BS.

Anyone know how ofthen they have meetings to review applications?

@momofsix Sorry I didn't get to answer your question soon enough!! I see you already figured out how to do it. Im taking my pre-req's at CCP too. I've taken all the required courses also, plus developmental psyc, sociology, nutrition, and philosophy. Right now I'm taking micro, speech communication, ethics, and statistics.

@celeste I'm definitely taking advantage of the BSN. It eliminates the problem of having to apply to BSN programs later on bc with Aria, you're already automatically accepted into Penn State's program. IMO, the sooner you get it the better bc I'm hearing rumors that the state is going to eventually require all nurses to get their BSN. Also, some (but not all) hospitals won't hire an RN unless they have the BS. As far as the commuting situation, I'm hoping SEPTA will be enough bc that's what I'll be taking (I don't have a car unfortunately).. I'm so excited though! Hopefully we'll all end up being classmates!

@YYKS I'm not sure when they do?

Im can't wait to meet everyone; I honestly wish I could just start now!

YYKS: I was told that they started this week, but im not sure how often

Jess: Yeah, same here. I know many hospitals that are starting to require a BSN in this region... Haha, yeah Septa can be my best friend or worst enemy. if we live near each other we should catch it together when the sem starts ^^

--- So does anyone have an estimate about how long before the actual finish line of getting the BSN? i've been looking at my past classes plus their curriculum and i cant figure it out exactly. They offer a Associates of Arts Degree if we do an extra 13weeks after the 34months. but then what about the program?

i know im looking far ahead, but that BSN is something i CANT wait to achieve.

That'd be cool! I live just above the northern liberties area.. The counselor said that instead of the associates, it would be the bachelors. So the 13 weeks for the bachelor's will replace the 13 weeks for the associates.

The way I did it, I compared the pre-req's I took to their curriculum and I crossed out the classes I already took from their course-of-study calendar. So that eliminated the need to take two Penn State semesters because I've done most of the Penn classes, and the ones I haven't done yet I can do with the nursing courses i.e., I'd take Nursing 110 + Pathophysiology + pharmacology. (Penn State semesters are the semesters where you do the non-nursing courses). Anyway, I calculated that I'd be done the BSN at the end of the Spring 2014 semester. So if I calculated right, and you don't have to do the two Penn State semesters either, then we should be done at the same time.

taking patho and pharm together is going to be really hard. i almost did that my first semester but changed my mind and took pharm my second semester with 111.

pharm is terrible. it is worse than nursing.:smackingf the teachers are awful too and they are trying to find a new one

Thanks for the heads-up! I'm assuming that a counselor will help us pick our classes when it comes time? I wouldn't wanna end up pairing two classes together like that not knowing what I'm getting into.

they will make your schedule for you, and you can change it if you want. they will prob give u patho and an easy class. like pat ed, or art, or music...

thats how we usually do it...one easy penn state class and one hard along w/ nursing
