Good Day!

Are there any JU 2016 nursing hopefuls on here!? I am applying for the upcoming spring semester. Hope you're out there! Excited to meet you!

-LoveHopePray

You can also buy a regular pair of white sneakers for nursing! So you can get something new without it being expensive! It just has to meet requirements listed under uniform code!

OMG! It is getting so close to when we start!!! I never check this thing much but if you guys want to keep in touch talk to me on my Facebook, facebook.com/alli.daniels.73

That would be so much easier!!

Also, does anyone know if we have class on Mo, Tues, Wed and Thurs or if it is just Mo, Tues and Wed?! Because on the JU portal and on the sheet that we submitted to registration is says two different things. On the portal it just says Mo, Tues and Wed but on the sheet it also says Thurs. Did anyone else notice this??? Maybe I am going crazy!

I'm freaking out over here. I just accepted a new job at Baptist (currently at Memorial) and they require an orientation on Feb 8th & 9th. Which would mean I would have to miss 2 days of class. This job is for the better since I will only work weekends rather than full time at my current job. What is everyone's advice? Do you think I can afford to miss 2 days???

do your orientation times overlap with the times of your class? Honestly with such a good sounding opportunity id probably bite the bullet and just miss class but consult the professors or Ms. Bloom for her insight!

Hey Ladies!

BTW, my name is Tiffany! Just in case I see you all at orientation! 1). I think we do have class on Thursday, but I am sure that will or can be clarified Friday! Jobs are important and especially ones that work with your school schedule! Im sure they will not recommend that you miss class, but you have to do what you have to do! Just be responsible and notify the instructors ASAP! Make a friend and get copies of notes and assignments! and phone numbers!

On another note! I just ordered my shoes, watch, and a few other things we need! I went through the expected cost sheet in the orientation packet and estimated about $1400ish!:

Book Bundle: 653.50

Transcultural Concepts in Nursing Care: 76.25

Lab Kit: 358.00

Test taking book: 34.95

APA Manual: 29.95

Student Nursing Association: $24 cash

Uniforms: $200ish

OMGOODNESS! Are you all coming up with the same numbers! Whew! Thats a whole lot and my financial aid hasn't come through! #HeadacheAlready!

Anyways, Love y'all and see you soon!

Yes, I currently work for Memorial Health as a cardiac tech and I've been looking for a better opportunity closer to home and Baptist was my goal. So I couldn't decline. My orientation is Feb 8th & 9th 7:30-4:30 so I would definitely be missing class. But hopefully the professor/students can help me catch up!!! But I would be going from a full-time position to a part-time position so missing class will be worth it in the long run! Thanks for the advice though!

I came up with the same numbers. Except I will be paying for the digital book ONLY because I don't need a paperback. I am paying cash for everything at orientation :( and cash for my tuition...it sucks. BUT I am trying not to take out any loans!!! We will see how that goes...haha!

My name is Alexis (I go by Alli though) see you all at orientation!!!

Yes! I think I will get digital books as well! And probably have to purchase required items tomorrow and recommended items next weekish! I have no loans as well!! A little panicky! But I do have military benefits! I don't know how you are doing it girl! But keep it up Alli! See ya tomorrow!

Hey there! did you make it into JU?

Yep, currently enrolled

Congrats!! I was recently accepted. But I have not decided. What are your thoughts on the program? is faculty supportive? How large are your classes?

Hey, I also am enrolled. I think faculty is tough but supportive and classes are fairly small maybe 25 students? í ½í¸Š I just started in January, but I really am enjoying it so far.

Hi lovehopepray, Its been a while since i posted here but I am re applying again for spring 2017. I applied with you all last Spring 2016 but did not make it :(

I just have a question regarding the essay portion? did you answer it like a whole 5 paragraph essay or did you just do one long paragraph? I'm just confused since they only give you 15mins to do it. Hope all is well for you in nursing school.
