Specializes in ICU.

Hi fellow travelers! I'm trying to chose my next assignment. Been travlin' since 2001 and have learned a lot of the in's and out's of finding a good fitting assignment. I've found that listening to your fellow travelers is imperative, soooo, I'm hoping to get some really good input as to the working conditions, parking, living arrangements, ect. associated with Jackson Memorial Hospital in Miami....Thanks in Advance, MphisRN

Specializes in ICU, step down, dialysis.

Moved to Travel Nursing for best response.

Have you worked in Florida? I did an assignment - well a few weeks - at Jackson and was delighted to be terminated. Really dumb reason too, my agency asked me to inquire about the status of a timesheet that hadn't been faxed yet and they took offense. In general though, nurses get treated badly throughout Florida and doctors rule.

Yes, you are soooo right! But the climate, beaches, overall beauty and, of course, Disney lures me there every winter!!! So I've probably seen the worst and the best. I've found the Naples area hospitals to be closer to the experiences of being an RN in California and the Northeast....Thanks for the input, I will definitely tell my recruiter "No way"!

I've only worked in two Florida hospitals and in the OR. I don't know that Jackson is worse than average and your specialty might be fine. I thought the OR was pretty toxic, but they had lots of presumably long term staff. I'm just saying that I have just one perspective and there are other valid ones out there. Your recruiter may be able to tell you a lot more about what their travelers thought of Jackson.
