Jackson Memorial Hospital Nursing residency program

Nurses New Nurse

Published

Got a call to interview for the nurse residency program.

It's a 3 year contract.

More than any other hospital in Miami.

Makes me wonder how much difficulty the hospital has in keeping their nurses, maybe thats why their contract is so long & binding...

Has anyone interviewed or are currently in this residency program?

Any input would help.

Kendall Regional New Grad program applications opened yesterday. I just got hired to the UM residency program

Wow congrats and all the best. I have beeen checking the UM website but i did not see d grad openings.

I applied in indeed and I interviewed November 15 and they called me with an offer on Monday and I start in January. I'm very excited. But all my nursing buddies got hired in Kendall.. good luck I know it's hard

Hi..where did you guys applied or how does the posting look like . I can't find it thanks

What I did was call each hospital and ask if they had a new grad program and when would they start. They usually tell you around what month they will start. Then you have to go on the web site and check for "new grad residency" or some call it "STARN" program. But you have to be active in searching and calling. Talk to recruiters leave messages if they don't answer. Look in indeed or monster. Also go to job fairs.

how did you find info about the nurse residency program?

I went into the Jackson nursing internship 25 years ago. Best decision I ever made. Jackson nurses are in the SEIU union. Also, Jackson employees have a choice between pension or investment plan, in addition to 401k options. I chose pension. Not many companies offer that anymore. When I retire, I will collect a monthly check for the rest of my life. Jackson has been very good to me. I make more money and get more time off than my RN friends working elsewhere. The work is challenging and rewarding. They get some very high risk patients. As someone else mentioned, it is very expensive to train nurses. It can be up to 6 months before you are left alone. Of course they want a guarantee you won't up and leave after spending $30k to have you shadow someone. They also know once you write Jackson Memorial Hospital on your resume, you will be hired at any hospital. If you can get in, it's a wonderful opportunity. Once you have some experience, they have Operating Room, ICU, ER and other internships. Good luck. PS Jackson has 2 other hospitals - Jackson North and Jackson South.. After trained, you can transfer.

Hey I know its been over a year, but I wanted to know more information on your experience in the internship program. Also how did the interview process and hiring process go for you.

The reason makes sense. Internship programs are very expensive. The hospital invests a ton of time and money to give you real training. Many hospitals don't offer internships, let along even hire new grads. Why would a company who puts that kind of time and money into something allow you to leave the moment you actually become proficient at your job? Unless you have the intent of moving out of the area I don't see the hiccup in signing a contract. It's a great opportunity. And like the other poster mentioned, you could always switch floors, etc if you weren't happy. I was just accepted in the same internship. I CANT WAIT TO START! :-)

Hello, I am about to graduate next semester with my RN and I was wondering if anyone had information on how to apply or where to find out more information about the Jackson Memorial hospital internship in Miami,FL. I searched through the Jackson website, but I couldn't seem to find info on it.

Please and Thank you
