Hi. I just passed the NCLEX-RN last week, and I am looking for an IV therapy course here in South Bay Area (San Jose, Santa Clara, Milpitas..) I'm also looking for an EKG & Pharma course.
And, what other requirements or certification should I get prior to applying a job? Or to make my resume attractive?
Hoping you guys can help me. Thanks!

You are aware that as an RN, an IV cert course is not necessary to your license as you are expected to know IV therapy as part of your RN education. You will not receive CEU credit for the class. RNs take the class for their personal experience, rather than to have an item for their resume. To enhance your resume, you should consider ACLS or PALS. Consider this provider: Nurse Education Workshop, Inc., 1777 Hamilton Ave. #2280 San Jose CA 95125 (408) 269-3715 http://www.new-cpr.com Reasonably priced and known for being low stress.
Thank you! Yes i know its not necessary, I just want to do it for my personal experience since when I was still studying, I was not able perform it (PICC..) And also, you know, as a new grad, I feel like everything seem so new.
Thank you so much! :)
Here is another provider where you can get the EKG course, ACLS, and PALS, but they cost more: Heartshare Training Services, Inc., 1101 S. Winchester Bl. Ste. K230 San Jose CA 95128 (408) 246-0311 http://www.heartsharetraining.com

I'm also an RN and looking for an IV therapy & blood withdrawal class to gain the skills I need in preparation for a job. Were you able to find one yet? I'm also in the South Bay Area and I've checked out Nurse Education Workshops, TLS and Amerimed but no available classes are scheduled anytime soon. Please, keep us posted when you found one. Thanks!
I agree. I still have not found an IV therapy class. But I have scheduled myself for BLS, PALS, ACLS, ATT and NRP classes. Expensive but, hopefully all will be worth it.
Oh, this is where I'll be taking my courses. http://www.heartsharetraining.com :)

Your statement that RNs do not receive any Continuing Education Hours for an IV Therapy course is incorrect. While certification for IV Therapy and Blood Withdrawal is indeed attained during the RN education, authorized providers may issue up to 20 hours for the combination IV/BW class to RNs. As long as the provider has a number issued to them by the California BRN, this class can be a major asset and resume builder. Genesis Medical Education Consultants has a 2 day IV/BW course for RNs 2-3 times a month, and allows students to sit in on any class again at a later date for no cost in case a student wants to keep their skills sharp. They are located in Southern California and offer the above mentioned ACLS and PALS at a discount for return students.
If travel is not too much of an obstacle, Genesis Medical Education Consultants offers a 20% travel discount and they do offer the IV Therapy and Blood Withdrawal 2 day course.
