I've never done a midline iv. Patient had leftover blood in capped midline iv in arm. Protocol would be to just flush it right? I'm super paranoid if I did the right thing or not!

The protocol is to contact the provider and NOT force things. Not force of extension tubing losing parts in the process. Not to do procedures where you don't have the skill or training. And not spamming forums. Rewording doesn't change that you are soliciting medical advice online.

You would have been much better served taking that time to contact your mother's health care team and asking them these questions. Have you called them? If not, why not? You will not get the answers you seek here.
Nov 11, 2016 by Louise44 6 Posts; 623 Profile Views I share the account with my sister who is a new nursing student and she did not realize I had already posted it and had the same idea I did. I called them and they are coming out tomorrow.

Redirect to those qualified to assess and advise

Along with what JustBeachy said about the shared account, it's still deceptive to mention instructor as though the situation was not a personal relative.
