ITT Tech RN program?

Published

I went to ITT today for an informational session for there nursing program. 50,000 dollars? Is this legal? The graduation rate for this program is around 10 percent not to mention that out of those that graduate only 20 percent pass the NCLEX. I have also heard for there clinical's they watch videos because most hospitals will not accept there student nurses. Does anyone else have information on them?

Oh, and not to mention, their credits will not transfer to most colleges because of their accredidation. I got my first degree from ITT, and believe me, they are considered a joke as far as education goes now.

Brekinridge school of nursing @ ITT tech is cheaper than the school I just registered for. All Nursing schools are not CCNE accredited, but that does NOT mean that they are not good schools or accredited by another source. Check your states Board of Nursing website or contact them directly. They will give you info on the program status. For ex. I live in ohio and before I chose my school I went on the website to see if they were approved and if it was conditional-newly approved. Full-continuous approval or provisional-not good

Make sure they accredited! Otherwise you will be SOL. Personally, I would not do it. Sounds iffy. Definitely look into others schools in your area. Watching videos for clinicals? How will that benefit you in the long run?

Make sure it is the Correct accreditation!

Some, but not all, schools create their own accredited bodies, which they receive accreditation from.

How convenient!

I do not know anything about ITT tech, so I am Not directing my comment at them specifically.

AS A STUDENT OF ITT FORT LAUDERDALE FL I CAN SAY THAT ALTHOUGH THE SCHOOL IS EXPENSIVE....IT IS JUST WRONG TO SAY THE SCHOOL IS NOT A SUCCESS....I GRADUATED IN APRIL 2014....ALL OF MY FRIENDS THAT HAVE TAKEN THE NCLEX HAVE PASSED THUS FAR....I HAVE TO SAY THE SAME FOR THE OTHER TWO GRADUATING CLASSES BEFORE ME....AS A NEW NURSING PROGRAM...NOT A NEW SCHOOL....THEY ARE DOING WELL IN MY OPINION. PEOPLE MUST NOT BE TOO QUICK AND MAKE A BAD JUDGEMENT ON WHAT IS NOT KNOWN TO THEM PERSONALLY..AT THE SAME TIME I BELIEVE THAT EVERYONE IS ENTITLED TO HIS OPINION...I WILL SAY AGAIN...EXPENSIVE...YESSSS....SAYING IT'S NOT A GOOD SCHOOL....THAT'S A LIE...AT LEAST NOT THE DEERFIELD BEACH (NOW JOINED WITH FORT LAUDERDALE CAMPUS).....

Ps. I had to join this group because of what I have just read about my school.

The Itt-Tech students have been to some of the best hospitals ....medical facilities in Fort Lauderdale....I have....and I was surely not the only one in the class!!....come on intelligent people....as one writer said..."not in this day and age".....no we do not only watch videos....

Hi: I went for the nursing information meeting at ITT Tech in June 2014. The cost was 54,000. Beware, as there R.N. program is not NLN accredited. You will possibly find it difficult to obtain employment after you pass your state boards. I called the acute care hospitals in the Fort Myers Fl. area and was told by HR that they will not be hiring nurses who did not attend a NLN accredited program I also called a few traveling nurse companies and it was the same response. Enjoy your chosen career..

It is interesting that you only sign up on July 14,2014 and has only made two posts related to ITT Tech RN Program. Are you really a graduate from the school or are you one of the paid Recruiter? I suspect the latter. Have you found a RN job to date? What others should know, a lot of these For-Profit Schools have their staff monitor these boards/forums and make fictitious post about their schools to boost enrollment and provide inaccurate information to entice new applicants to their school, knowing full well that most will drop out and very few that graduate will find a suitable position in Nursing. Why would anyone hire graduates from these programs, when there is an oversupply of BSN and ADN Nurses from fully accredited Nursing Programs who are unable to get jobs? Does that make sense? $54K for an ADN Degree? Without Federal Loans and Grants, these Schools would be out of business, since in reality, their education-related statistics show that they are a scam, ripping off the federal government. The sad part is the majority of students who do not finish these programs and end up being saddled with huge Student Loan Debt and no job prospect in sight.

Ps. I had to join this group because of what I have just read about my school.

I graduated from the ITT campus in Jacksonville, Florida. Every nursing school has its pros and cons, good and bad. I have attended two different campuses (Lake Mary and Jacksonville) due to moving. It really depends largely on the instructors. The campus in Lake Mary had awesome instructors and I learned a lot from them. However, transferring to the Jacksonville campus I found that most instructors had ITT as their second job and could not devote their full attention to us nursing students. There was a very high turn-over rate of instructors at this campus. I graduated in June of 2014 and passed my boards the second time that December. I applied to several positions only to be denied due to the accreditation of the school. Yes it is an expensive school, and luckily I had an associates degree transferred in so I saved a few thousand dollars. I am currently enrolled in a BSN program as more and more jobs are requiring this. My best advice is to look at the accreditation of the school and see what hospitals want.

I found out a friend of mine is going to nursing school at ITT. I am so scared for her. She mentioned becoming a traveling nurse, and when I asked her where she does her clinicals, she didn't answer. I'm wondering if I should try to talk to her about it. I don't want anyone to make a mistake in their career. I plan on furthering my education as well, and wondering if someday she may want to but have a harder time because of where she went to nursing school.

I had other classmates I graduated with who worked during school in a hospital or a medical setting and all of them landed a job in the hospital right out of school. It was because of experience. So ITT is not a horrible school, but if she doesn't have any prior experience it will be a lot harder to land a job out of school. I did not go back to ITT for my Bachelor's degree, however, I am currently enrolled in Jacksonville University.

I have done my research and decided to go with ITT tech Breckenridge school of nursing for a lot of reasons..I have applied to 3 community college nursing programs and they all are looking for academic perfection and I don't have that. However in my career at the hospital I have worked in every dept and every doctor knows me...I have done cpr on people when nurses froze and no school cares..because they care about grades ..there is more to a nurse then grades...you can't teach common sense, caring, or gut instinct.I feel like ITT wasn't judgmental at all. Anyone who gets on here and is negative about a technical school is just that negative. ...it's not ok..nobody pays my tution but me so therefore it shouldn't matter what people say about this school..becoming an RN is hard work no matter where you get your education and I've personally asked where I work if they hire ITT tech graduates and they do..so all experiences aren't negative.
