Its been 2 months, should I call the hospital I applied to?

Published

So I applied at a hospital back in June and in August I got an email saying that I meet the minimum requirements for the position of Nursing Assistant and they will review my application to see if I move on to the interview process. Well, it's been 2 months and I know that hospitals take a long time but I haven't heard anything in 2 months and it's driving me crazy because this is my only hope in getting a cna job, I gave up looking for a cna job. Should I call them to see what's going on? What to I say?

If it's been 2 months, then I'd say move on. But it never hurts to call. I just think that if they wanted to hire you they would have called a long time ago.

I would call. By calling it shows them you are still interest and looking but I would also keep looking into other jobs as well. As they say do not put all your eggs in one basket. When you call just say you are looking into the status of an application you put in. Are they still looking or have they filled the position already and of so are there any other positions opened. It never hurts to call or show them your interested. Just do not go over bored

I agree with the others that it would not hurt to try to call them, or even shoot them a E-Mail and ask about the status of your app. At this point really I am thinking that they probably filled the position already but you never know there can always be a CNA position poping up for a hospital CNA.

You need to know though that many times it can be difficult to land a hospital CNA job and there can be many many apps for one position. So sometimes it is like being a small fish in a big pond hoping to be the one that is picked. Also many times hospitals will pick a seasoned or a CNA with experianced over someone fresh out of CNA class hoping to land their first job.

I am curious in knowing why in the world you think this is your ONLY chance at getting a CNA job? Unless you are the type of person that will only settle for a hospital job there are many avenues for you to look at when looking to be employed as a CNA. Have you checked out nursing homes, retirment homes, homes for VETs or the disabled. There is hospice, Home Care, Rehab just to name only a few places that employ CNAs where you might get a better chance at getting employed.

As I like to think maybe a hospital job is your dream job as a CNA, but I think that getting a job somewhere else and get experiance under your belt will make your app look more attractive later on. If you do not have experiance working in other places and areas of health care you might not be seen as their number one pick for a hospital job and could potentially be waiting a long time for a job. Not saying that a newbie CNA can't land a hospital job, but it can make it tougher when there might be more attractive apps out there. Remember they said you met the MINIMUM requirments, but it does not mean you are the best canidate for the job.

I wish you luck though and would highly recomend that if you want to put that new certification to use look at those other avenues to get started and then later on in 6 months to a year try again for that hospital position.

I say this is my only HOPE because, as I've posted on here before, I hate the ALF I work in so much and I would have quit a long time ago but I don't want to stay without a job. I really need to get out of there ASAP, its not a good place to work, it stresses me out, I get anxiety everyday, I feel depressed, I mean one of the employees almost caused death with one of the residents, it was intentionally what he did but I don't know if he realized the consequences. Anyway, I've already applied at all the nursing homes in my area, and nothing..so I'm looking for any job at this point, unless of course, I still have an opportunity at the hospital

Well the good news then is that you do have that experiance of working as a CNA, and you would potentially be seen as a good canidate. Forgive me but without you stating that you were already working as a CNA and just plain burned out at your current job, The post gave me the impresion that you had not worked as a CNA yet and was only looking for a hospital job.

Big Hugs, and don't give up at looking for a new job. There are other places that might be way better then where your at you just have to get that chance. Hope something will turn up for you very soon. Hang in there I'm pulling for you
