ITIN in lieu of SSN?

Specializes in awaiting for Schedule A visa...

Does Ca BON accept ITIN in lieu of SSN and will issue the license if ITIN is provided?

Does anyone here provided ITIN to the Ca BON and then got the RN license?

I remember there is a post like this before who got licensed in CA for giving the ITIN # but it was a mistake on the part of CA BRN, they thought it was the SSN.

You can use ITIN instend SSN. I called to ask and they allow me to use. Now i alredy get my licensed.

Thank you very much for the info. I think this is the way around to get the license easily...but I still have to wait for my results....(fingers crossed)....

Some one gave wrong information at the BON, you must have a SSN# to get the license as they want proof that you can legally work in the US. BRN website and per them require the SSN#, not the ITIN#. Some get thru with it, and many do not.

I would not chance it.

You also need to be in the US and have some reason that you needed to have it not that you need it for a license. They are not automatically issued, and espeically if you are out of the country.

for the final time, there is absolutely no reason for you to need a sn# until you are ready to work, it is strictly for tax purposes.

and as someone just posted, this is an "easy way" to get around the license issue.

wrong, it is an excellent way to slow things down for you. everytime you try to take shortcuts, it will turn around and bite you on the behind.

let this be a lesson to all of you, do things as you should be doing, not trying to take a shortcut, it will only cause you issues down the line.

something else to consider:

if they routinely accepted the itin#, then it would state such, or that no ssn# was even needed. for any of you wishing to take shortcuts, do so at your own risk. you won't get any help from me whatsoever when you run into trouble.
