Hi how is everyone doing? I am just curious to why the state board requires a SSN? I have borrowed some private loans as a student, do you think that they will be able to view them? Will they be able to tell about my residence for the past years? What is the whole purpose? Thanx for all of the help. I truly appreciate it!!

I really don't know what they "can" view. I just know that you will not achieve your license without giving the required information.
There is very little official business that one can conduct these days without giving a SSN and a birthdate.

It is to make sure you are the right, "Jane Doe."
So many nurses have tried to pull tricks to avoid the black marks on their licenses from other states from following them around.
There was a recent scandal about this where it was determined that thousand of nurses in Cali had revoked or suspended licenses in other states but were practicing without even a hint of trouble on their license in Cali.
It is just a good way to track identity. I really don't think the BON cares how much you have out in student loans ;-)

Thanks my.toys for your response, you were really helpful. Do you think that they might look out for universities/colleges attended other than nursing school? In my view, it doesn't make any sense but I just want to make sure because all they would want to knoew is that i have completed my nursing degree? Thank you once again!

It sounds like you're looking for something specific here. I don't think we have the information we need to answer the question.
Maybe contacting the BON themselves would help you.
