Hello,
I do not have any mnemonics for you but the only thing I have found necessary to figure out what sort of isolation a patient should be in is an understanding of his or her disease process. Your studies in common infectious diseases and their transmission should make a dent more than rote memorization.
I thing your idea is fine......however I know I could never remember something like that. Maybe it is just me?
When I worked in an acute care hospital we had laminated go to cards for each type of isolation. Along with a list of the different illnesses and which type of isolation they would require, along with which ones needed to be reported to the CDC.
I think it would be better to beg, borrow, or steal something like that instead of hoping you didn't forget a part of your mnemonic.
My search works. This is from someone that said she had copied it from another post:

Hi,
Seems that when I was completing my LVN, I ran across some mnemonics for Isolation precautions that were very) helpful. I'm positive that I saved the thread, but can't seem to find it now.
Anyone have any? For some reason, I can understand every single onset/peak time for every insulin, but I can't keep straight what disease process needs which precaution (flu-airborne, etc)
Just seeing if anyone has something..
Sarah
And yes, I know there is a search button - but for some annoying reason, I cannot search AN. My browser freaks out....
