I am a nursing student in a two year program and about to finish my first year. Our professors basically told us last week that jobs are no longer as available as they were when we joined the program. After hearing this I later learned that MANY of the hospitals in my area (upstate ny) got rid of alot of positions in this field!! Nursing is stressful just learning it, Im wondering if it is worth continuing on with my degree or looking else where. I alredy have a vet tech degree and decided I wanted to do more.....but im starting to wonder if nursing is going to be worth it..or if im going to struggle to find a job? Need support here....I dont want another nowhere degree!!

So what if jobs are hard to find?!! Jobs are hard to find for almost everybody at this time. For heaven's sake finish school and get your license. You would feel foolish if 12 years from now circumstances are different and you need that nursing license and don't have it.

Jobs may be hard to find NOW but who knows what may happen a year from now? Look at it like this...even if you have to wait longer than that - say 2 even 3 years the ecomonic situation in the world will not stau like this forever. I feel if you give up you might come to regret it later. Nurses make a very high salary so even if you do finish up and you cant get a job immediately when you do finally land that job it will be worth it. ALL jobs are hard to find not just nursing so if you were to go into something else who is to day you wont have the same problem. DO NOT GIVE UP!!! You already did one year...just finish up your last year and see what happens. Like I said you may not find something immediately but you will eventually get a job in a hospital!
