Is is worth applying for Fall 2013 now?

I recently completed a 30-level course (my very last prerequisite) and am unsure if I should apply to Grant MacEwan for the Fall 2013 term. I could apply for January 2014 right now (since applications opened this month) but I am really anxious to get back to school, mainly because I'm done all my prereqs and am having a hard time finding a decent job right now. My initial plan was to make money for about a year and hope to get accepted into the Fall 2014 term but like I said, I'm having some issues.

What I'm worried about if I try out for this September is the time crunch - getting everything sorted out by the time I hear back from them (which, I heard, could be months). The idea of starting in January, in the middle of winter, is off-putting to me for various reason that I don't want to get into. Not saying I would never do it, it's just that if I had a preference, I would choose Fall.

Do you think the time span between now and September is "too short" for getting everything prepared, including applying for student loans (assuming I get in, of course)? Do you think it's "too late" to apply for the Fall, given that the progam is competitive? And for those of you who started in January, how did you find it?

Thanks in advance everyone.

Is 'final admission' when you're definitely accepted into the program? I got a conditional acceptance letter that said even if I submit everything (security clearance, deposit fee, transcripts, etc.), I will be receiving no final admission letter.

Oh and just an update: It turns out it was worth applying for Fall 2013. I applied in February, got waitlisted, and was offered a seat a few days ago.

I am in the exact same situation too! I applied in Feb, got waitlisted, and was just offered a spot a few days ago! I'm still debating between MacEwan and UofA though!

@ Just A Wanderer I applied to the psychiatric nursing program at macewan for fall 2015. I applied November 2014 and was admissionable waitlisted, which means I have the marks but there's not enough seats. I'm still on the waitlist. There is only 42 seats for this program however, not that many people on the waitlist, compared to registered nursing. What do you think my chances are??? I'm getting so anxious and they said they usually call people off the wait list in July. I mean I applied really early!! you applied later, and still got in!

Veganlover123, I'm not sure what your chances of getting in are because I'm guessing it depends where exactly you are on the waitlist. My situation is kind of different since there are more seats available in the BScN program compared to the psychiatric nursing program (as you mentioned). I know people who have been waitlisted for 2 years only to finally get accepted 1-2 weeks before the start of the program. I also know people who got accepted 2 days INTO the program. These are people in the BScN so I can't say what to expect for psychiatric nursing program since I don't know anyone from it. Have you tried calling the program and asking where you are on the waitlist? I knew a girl who did that and they let her know what her chances were of getting in.

If you have any more questions, feel free to ask. I'll try to help. Good luck with everything!

@Just A Wanderer , I asked if I could know my placement on the waitlist and they told me they can't tell that to students because the list is too dynamic and can change daily. That is understandable. Maybe I could call them and ask what my chances are though. Thanks!
