Is it wise to have a cna license in indiana/illinois if i still have an ill license?

Published

I still have an illinois license i never got the change to switch over to indiana license because im busy with my baby. My question is do you think it's wise to get a cna license in both states since i am on the border.. I don't think it should matter what school im going to or where i live since im on the borderline of indiana and illinois. but i still have an illinois license..

Any thought about what i should do.?

Having a CNA certification is not like a nursing license (compact states, where you can be licensed & work in states that are a part of the compact without having to apply for licensure in that state all over again). Unfortunately, if you want to work in another state you will have to be certified in that state. I know how you feel & I think it's sort of unfortunate. I live in MD, but I am very close to Virginia & DC. When I was a CNA & looking for jobs, I wanted to apply for tech positions in DC, but I had to be in the DC nurse aide registry. The good part is that it was only $15 to do so. And for Virginia, it was free. So if I were you, I would just check & see how much it costs to get your CNA in Indiana by going to their board of nursing website.

Right so you think it's best to have both cna licenses in indiana and illinois... I'm definitely going to look it up on the boards as well.
